In the distant land

Where thunder speaks

And fire grumbles

There was a silent mutiny

To silence the beloved

 

The beloved is beautiful

Standing tall among the nations

Her name is blessed

And she is called favored


All the gatherings and agreements

Of that distant land

Could not stop her

She emerges victorious and splendid

Clothed in white

Decorated with precious stones

Taking her place

Among the nations

 

The beloved of the Lord

Is indeed blessed

The gates of hell

Will never prevail

Against her

I mused within me

If I had wings

I will soar away

Into the golden clouds

And rest my face

On His feet
If I had wings

I will fly over the mountains

And the seas

Believing that freedom

And flying

Are the same

 

Then I said to myself

I already have wings

In my soul

To overcome every obstacle

In life

I have wings

And I am free indeed

 

I said to myself

Fly, child of the king

Until you pierce the golden clouds

And rest in Him

City on a hill

Beautiful and splendid

I can still remember

The days of old

When I sang on the rolling hills

In your territory

With no care

 

City on a hill

What happened?

I saw you yesterday

Dejected and abused

Neglected and ugly

Defeated

 

City on the hill

You were the pride of nations

Abounding in natural resources

Overflowing with human capital

You were wealthy

You were rich

What happened, pride of the nations

Who cast you down

To the grave

Today,  you are

The scorn of nations

 

City on a hill

Rise! Rise!

It is time to shine

Reclaim your glory

And stand proud and tall

The  Lord says,

“You must rise,

Precious daughter of Zion.”

And the heavens opened

And I saw His glory

He was smiling

Very handsome and resplendent as

He said to me,

“Celebrate my love.”

It is vital and essential

To always celebrate

The love of God

In Christ Jesus

That is the greatest

Act of faith

Shunning every propensity

For sadness

And ingratitude

And embracing

His great love

In worship

And thanksgiving

That is when

He appears

And visits us

I am the Lord

I will never change

I have loved you

With an everlasting love

I sent my son Jesus

To die in your place

 

I am the Lord

I will never leave you or forsake you

Husbands forsake their wives

Parents forsake their children

But my love for you is unconditional

And eternal

 

I am the Lord

And you are the apple of my eyes

I love you deeply

Your pain is my pain

Who ever touches you touches me

 

I am the Lord

Trust me and have faith in me

And watch your enemies crumble

Acquited

I was acquired today,

In a controversial case.

A very public spectacle,

And real life soap opera,

Where I was charged for the murder

Of my ex husband’s lover.

I was detained, chained and humiliated.

Even my friends doubted my innocence

My own parents and siblings

Privately pleaded with me to confess

Because they knew I despised my ex husband’s lover.

They reasoned that I must have gone crazy

For a split second.

 

After a while, I almost

Gave in just to have peace

I wanted to plead guilty and just die

Or remain in prison.

 

Of course there wasn’t enough evidence to nail me,

And I was acquitted.

But I tell you,

Today is the saddest day of my life,

Because in the eyes of the world I am guilty.

There are pockets of protests across

The country asking for a retrial.

You might say that I am free,

But now, I am in the biggest cage of all.

The cage of public and media trial,

The cage of intense hatred and isolation,

Where everyone is convinced that I am guilty.

Acquitted? Yes.

Free? No.
