Introduction

Jesus said “I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me”.         This is a very powerful and profound statement. A closer look at the life of Jesus provides evidence to the fact that the devil had nothing in Jesus.

He has nothing in me is a place at the mountain top of spiritual maturity. In our life of faith we must give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and give to God what belongs to God. Sin belongs to the devil and we must leave the devils property with him.

If we have made up our minds to get to the mountain top and arrive at Christian maturity, we must refuse to cling to sin. Some people cling to sin like it’s their birth right. We must also not allow sin to cling to us and carry it on our back the same way mothers back their children in some countries. We must clearly identify what we are fighting in order to overcome the devil.

Our fight of faith is fight against sin. Sin is anything that displeases God as stated in the Bible. Complete obedience is not just about complete love but it includes complete faith and hope. The Lord said to me “weak faith reduces sanctity”. Without faith it is impossible to please God.

Incomplete faith, not walking in love and not obeying the voice of the Holy Spirit is displeasing to God. Mature faith, hope, love and obedience is what pleases God. God wants us to arrive at the mountain top. Jesus operated from the mountain top.

The devil had nothing in Jesus because Jesus had a complete knowledge of the Bible and delighted in the fear of the Lord. Jesus loved righteousness and hated sin. It is only when the devil has nothing in us that we will be at the mountain top of spiritual maturity.

You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness;
Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions. – Hebrew 1:9

As a result, He was anointed with the Holy Ghost and power and the Father was well pleased with Him. He was also anointed with joy. It was His constant desire to please the father that guaranteed that anointing. Jesus was tested and trusted by the father. We, as soldiers and pilgrims must also have a complete knowledge of the Bible and walk with God. That way, the devil will not be able to entice us and gain an upper hand over us.

How many Christians can boldly say “he has nothing in me.” Yet Jesus our perfect example clearly and boldly said “He has nothing in me.”

Chapter 1

Grace

Grace is the life of the Christian. So many Christians have forgotten about grace and actually try to do it on their own. They keep trying and trying and they keep failing and falling over and over again. This is because they overlook the grace of God. Jesus Christ Himself did everything by the grace of God.

We were born through grace and it is only by grace that we will overcome.

That in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.  For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. – Ephesians 2:7

Jesus said “without me you can do nothing”. Jesus is the grace of God. We are under grace and we are children of grace. We believed through grace and the gospel is the gospel of the grace of God. The word of God is the word of His grace and the grace of God helped us believe. We received grace from God when we started this journey and can only finish with more and more grace from God. We finish the journey when we get to the mountain top and we remain at the mountain top by the sustenance of grace.

He greatly helped those who had believed through grace – Acts 18:27

And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace John 1: 16

Jesus Was Filled With The Grace Of God.

The son of God, Jesus Christ Himself needed to be filled with grace in order to be pleasing to God and fulfil His destiny. Also, the grace of God was upon Him. Without grace, Jesus would not have been effective as a minister. By humility and an active prayer life, Jesus was able to constantly experience the fullness of grace.  We as Christians cannot be effective in our walk with God without being filled with grace. Additionally, we need the grace of God to rest upon us just as it rested on Jesus. The only way to be filled with grace is by prayer and humility. If we do not ask we will not receive. Jesus had extravagant and extraordinary grace.

And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him –

Luke 2:40

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.  – John 1:14

The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. – Psalm 84:11

And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him. – Luke 2:40

The Grace of God Justified Us

The blood of Jesus is the grace of God in action. When God the father mapped out the salvation plan, it was grace that moved Him. The grace of God is a free gift that we didn’t pay for. In the grace of God we are justified and redeemed and God looks at us as innocent and blameless. It is grace that declares the guilty not guilty. All the miracles of Jesus and the apostles are miracles of grace.

When man was powerless to save himself, grace took over. It is by the grace of God that Jesus, the darling of God tasted death for us. It is also by grace that we can believe that all our punishments were cancelled at the cross. Grace is what builds faith in the great love God gave us and produces joyfulness. The Bible says that no one can say “Jesus is Lord” but by the Spirit.

But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honour, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone. – Hebrew 2:9

To the praise of the glory of His grace by which He made me acceptable in the beloved. – Ephesians 1:6

The Throne of Grace

Grace is so divine, amazing, extraordinary and rare the throne of God is called the throne of grace. God Justified, redeemed and saved us from that throne of Grace. We are delivered from past mistakes and must rejoice in the Lord always.

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. – Hebrew 4:16

Anytime we enter into the presence of God, it is grace that we have come to receive. The glory of God is what Steven saw when he gazed into heaven. It is only grace that cannot disappoint man. Every other thing will fail but grace can never fail. Man was created to depend on the grace of God.

Grace is the food that man needs to constantly eat in order to be spiritually heathy. Without grace man is finished and will remain in the naked guilty condition that he inherited from Adam. Grace is what makes the difference. With grace there is no boasting. Even if you are the greatest evangelist or apostle, it is not by power or might. It is just a work of grace and a gift of God to His church. All we need, is humility and submission when we enter Gods presence.

Humility and prayer is what attracts grace like a magnet from the throne of grace. Positive confession without grace is just a mental exercise. We need grace in order to breathe, live and be successful. It is only the fullness of grace that can enable a man to overcome and fulfil destiny.

Grace is a Canopy That Contains Virtues

A lot of Christians do not realise that the grace of God is a canopy and an umbrella that contains virtues.  These virtues can also be referred to as graces. It is only as the grace of God in us increases that all other attributes of the Christian life will increase. It is Jesus Himself that produces virtues in us. Grace is what builds faith, hope and love. The more grace we have, the more our faith, hope and love. They are attributes of grace.

Grace is all encompassing. Think of any positive word in the dictionary, that word is under grace even when we don’t realise it. Every good and perfect present comes from God. Wisdom and knowledge come from grace. Power is the grace of God in action. The ability to love like Jesus comes from grace.

The more grace we have, the more truth, wisdom, faith, love and hope that we will have. If we meditate on the Bible without humility and prayer, revelation and faith will elude us. We must realise that the Holy Spirit is our teacher because He is the spirit of grace, faith and revelation. If we ignore Him, we will fall flat on our faces.

Earthly wisdom can seem very sweet, but most of the time that is what we end up having without grace. Any kind of prayer or belief system that you accept which ignores grace will ultimately result in failure. If Jesus and Paul did not ignore grace, we will be foolish to ignore grace. When Paul was tormented and sought the face of God in prayer he got just one answer. “My grace is all you need”. Let us keep climbing the mountain of grace until we reach the top. Every other good thing we need is on that mountain of grace, so it is imperative for us to reach the top of the mountain.

Pray For More Grace

We must consciously and constantly pray for more grace. If we do not ask, we will not receive. Grace starts where the hand of man fails. Grace takes over where the flesh stumbles. It is grace that will enable us to fly and touch the sky. It is grace that will make us come face to face with counsel. Grace will also make us shake hands with the fear of the Lord. Grace will make us encounter peace. It is only by grace that we can touch the heavens. It is grace that sustains us in prayer and strengthens our hearts.

Because God is always at work in you to make you willing and able to obey His own purpose. – Philippians 2:13

May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who loved us and in His grace gave us unfailing courage and a firm hope, encourage you and strengthen you to always do and say what is good. – 2 Thessalonians 2: 16

It is by grace that we develop endurance, longsuffering, meekness, humility, patience, perseverance and character. It is grace that purifies the soul. Grace is the reason we live and breathe. Grace is the foundation of every other good quality and blessings that we have as Christians. Anyone that forgets about grace has forgotten how he was born and will never reach the mountain top. Where others walk, grace will enable us run and fly. Where others are sluggish grace will make us energetic. Where others cry, grace will make us rejoice. It is only grace that strengthens the heart. Fasting without depending on grace is just a hunger strike. Even pagans and cultist’s fast.

For it is good that the heart be established by grace, not with foods which have not profited those who have been occupied with them. – Hebrews 13:9

May God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord give you grace, mercy, and peace. –  2 Timothy 1: 2

May God the Father and Christ Jesus our Saviour give you grace and peace. – Titus 1:4

It is the grace of God that enabled Jesus to make sure that the devil had nothing in Him. Jesus had unprecedented and matchless levels of holiness and purity. Jesus was very humble and constantly relied on the grace of God. The humility of Jesus is amazing and engaging. Humility and grace enthroned Jesus on earth and in heaven.

It is the humility of Jesus that constantly magnetised the grace of God towards Him and ensured success. Moses was the meekest man on earth during his own time. The Bible records that he found grace in Gods sight.

Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth. – Numbers 12:3

Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” –  Matthew 11:29

Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth. – Numbers 12:3

Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. –  Mathew 18:4

For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.” – Luke 14:11

Everything that Moses did was by grace and the presence of God that went with him was the grace of God. Moses realised that he needed grace to be successful and fulfil his calling in life. In whatever profession we find ourselves in, it is grace that will set us apart, provided we are in God’s chosen profession for us.

Without the grace of God, we will be completely helpless. Mary was also filled with grace and John the Baptist was filled with the Holy Spirit from the womb. When you are filled with the Holy Spirit you are filled with grace because He is the Spirit of grace.

It is only our great God Jehovah that gives grace by His Holy Spirit of grace.

The Spirit of grace and supplication Zechariah 12:10

Psalm 84:11 says “the Lord will give grace and glory”. Can you imagine how successful we will be in our walk with God when the grace of God becomes an ornament on our head? With the fullness of grace, victory can never elude us and life becomes an everyday joy instead of struggle. Faith, hope and love will be complete. We can overcome every sin with the grace of God. All we need is to pray for all grace.

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. – Hebrew 12:28

It is only by prayer that we will eventually grow in all the good qualities that the Lord has commanded us to pursue.

Let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. – 1 Peter 3:11

As we keep growing in the grace of God we will get to the place of all grace.

She will place on your head an ornament of grace. – Proverbs 4:9

All Grace

To arrive at Christian maturity and a place of “he has nothing in me”, we must constantly pray for all grace. All grace is a place of triumph, success and victory. At this mountain top, faith, hope and love will overflow and our armour will be complete. Here, we will no longer struggle to believe that the blood of Jesus has set us free. The Holy Spirit will establish our hearts as we meditate on the good news and conviction and faith will take over. We will just know and accept that God has declared us not guilty and is not counting our sins against us. We will celebrate and rejoice in His marvellous love. We will live a life of thanksgiving and gratitude to God.

Grace, mercy, and peace will be with you from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. – 2 John 1:3

Mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. – Jude 1:2

It a place where goodness and mercy shall follow us. It is also a place of Holy fire and power. Without absolute humility and dependence, all grace will shy away from us. We must be determined to strive towards all grace. It is that determination that will make us keep seeking and waiting upon the Lord until we get to the mountain top. Even when we get to the mountain top, we must continue to depend on the grace of God or we will fall.

Once we stop looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, we can still fall from the mountain. We will fall if we stop believing in God’s marvellous love and the great sacrifice of Jesus on the cross that set us free. We will fall if we stop rejoicing, praising, thanking and loving God for cancelling all our punishments.

There is no place for pride in our walk with God because pride will only constitute an obstacle to the extraordinary and extravagant grace we seek. All the virtues that the Bible commands us to pursue all flow from the grace of God.

Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. – 1 Corinthians 14:1

But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness.  Fight the good fight of faith. – 1 Timothy 6:11

Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. – 2 Timothy 2:22

Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled. Hebrew 12:14

Let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” – 1 Peter 3:11

The place of all grace is a must for every Christian. Let us make it our primary goal in life to get to the place of all grace.

Chapter 2

The Spirit of the Lord

The Spirit of the Lord rested upon Jesus. This guaranteed success for Him. The devil had nothing in Jesus because the Spirit of the Lord was upon Him and He was filled with grace. The grace of God was also upon Him. When the Spirit of God is upon you, the grace of God will be upon you because He is the spirit of grace.

For us to be victorious Christians, we need the Spirit of the Lord to be upon us. In our walk with God we have all been developing the different spirits or attributes of the Lord and we are all at different levels.

The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. Isiah 11:2

And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth. –  Revelation 5:6

The spirit of power is the most difficult and last one that God will bestow upon us. Power requires absolute holiness. Holiness include perfect faith in the blood of Jesus that set us free. We must rejoice in our salvation and redemption. We must believe that we have been set free from confessed forsaken sins and associated punishments. God is no longer remembering our past sin, so we must forget our past. We must also live in complete obedience to God’s will.

Power is not for baby Christians or unbelievers. If we want to eat adult food, we must grow up to eat it. Jesus Himself was tested and trusted. Power can be abused so Gods condition for power is high. Jesus said to the apostles “You are already clean by the words I spoke to you”. To be clean we must believe what God believes. We must be one with the word of God. The word of God cleanses and sanctifies by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honour, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work. Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. – 2 Timothy 2:21

The only unclean person among them, Judas was removed before they were anointed in Acts of the Apostles. He accepted false thoughts. Accepting and acting on false thoughts is what defiles a man. Judas allowed the devil to sow bad seeds or thoughts in his heart. Any thought that contradicts the Bible is a false thought because the word of God is truth. Jesus said that a person when he is well trained will be like his master. We need to be trained by God before He makes us vessels of honour.

There is nothing as scary and pathetic as beholding an evil person with power. That person can do and undo. He will keep causing mischief and harm until God disarms him and removes his mischief from him. His mischief is his demon or evil power. Only power can defeat power. The only thing that a sorcerer is scared of is power. The Lord spoke to me in the past and said “It is only power that controls power in the spirit world”. He also said “the only thing that they are afraid of is fire”. Fire is power.

But Elymas the sorcerer (for so his name is translated withstood them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith. Then Saul, who also is called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him and said, “O full of all deceit and all fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease perverting the straight ways of the Lord? And now, indeed, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you shall be blind, not seeing the sun for a time.” Acts 13:8

The word of God says that Jesus will baptise us with the Holy Spirit and fire. Fire of the spirit is the power of the spirit. The Bible also says “He makes His minsters flames of fire.”

That The Power of Christ May Rest Upon Me

Even after Paul worked mighty miracles he still desired that the power of Christ may rest upon him. The anointing must be renewed daily.

Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. – 2 Corinthians 12:9

We as Christians need the power of Christ like air. Without the power of Christ upon us we will not be effective ministers. We will just talk and talk and be powerless in helping the afflicted and winning the lost. Some unbelievers will not come to Christ unless they see miracles.

Then Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will by no means believe.” – John 4:48

What distinguished the prophets in the Bible from ordinary people is that the Holy Spirit came upon them. When that happened, they were turned into “another man”. They changed and received ability to fulfil their destinies.

Moses understood this secret too well. Unlike modern day ministers who run off with the vision and also refuse to be anointed. Moses understood that without Gods presence, he would be helpless and ineffective.

Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight. And consider that this nation is Your people.”

And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

Then he said to Him, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here. For how then will it be known that Your people and I have found grace in Your sight, except You go with us? So we shall be separate, Your people and I, from all the people who are upon the face of the earth.” – Exodus 33:13

It is only the Holy Spirit that manifests wisdom, knowledge, understanding, power, counsel and fear of the Lord. Without the fullness of the Holy Spirit these attributes of the Holy Spirit will not be fully developed in us. Without Christ we can do nothing. He is the giver and producer of good fruits and attributes.

And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship – Exodus 31:3

And He has filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom and understanding, in knowledge and all manner of workmanship, to design artistic works, to work in gold and silver and bronze, in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of artistic workmanship. – Exodus 35:31

Faith in the Active Power of God

We need to have faith in the active power of God. This means having faith in what God did on the cross and what God can do as we seek His face. This means knowing that without Christ we can do nothing. We go from self-dependence to God dependence.

Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead, who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us. – 2 Corinthians 1:9

Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? — Galatians 3:5

When we go into the presence of God we need a full assurance of faith and expectation. The hearing of faith is when we hear the word of God and believe it with our hearts.

Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus,  by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh,  and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. – Hebrew 6:19

To have boldness means to have confidence. We can only have confidence by going through the broken body of Jesus. It is by His death and sacrifice that God declared us not guilty. We need to have a full assurance of faith when we go into the presence of God to seek His face.

Without the Spirit of the Lord on us, we cannot say that the devil has nothing in us. Not having the Spirit of the Lord creates a gap that the devil is very willing and pleased to fill. If Jesus, the apostles and prophets needed the Spirit of the Lord to be upon them, it is imperative that the Spirit of the Lord be upon us.

Chapter 3

Evidence of the Spirit of the Lord Resting upon us

Evidence of the Spirit of the Lord resting upon us reveals itself in the spirits or attributes listed in Isaiah 11:2. The Spirit of the Lord upon Jesus enabled Him to walk in God with authority. The Spirit of the Lord brings liberty and it is by having these spirits that we will be victorious. We cannot get to spiritual maturity without having the Spirit of the Lord in full measure. Jesus had the Spirit without measure.

The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. His delight is in the fear of the Lord, and He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, nor decide by the hearing of His ears; but with righteousness He shall judge the poor. – Isiah 11:2

Wisdom

Wisdom enables us to apply the word of God correctly. Wisdom is so precious and priceless that Solomon asked for wisdom instead of wealth and riches. God was so pleased with him that God in turn gave him wealth and riches. God also made him a preacher.

The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem. “Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher;
“Vanity of vanities, all is vanity.”- Ecclesiastes 1:1

And God gave Solomon wisdom and exceedingly great understanding, and largeness of heart like the sand on the seashore. Thus Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the men of the East and all the wisdom of Egypt. For he was wiser than all men – 1 Kings 4:29

I communed with my heart, saying, “Look, I have attained greatness, and have gained more wisdom than all who were before me in Jerusalem. My heart has understood great wisdom and knowledge.” And I set my heart to know wisdom and to know madness and folly. I perceived that this also is grasping for the wind. Ecclesiastes 1:16

The queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; Matthew 12:42

Any man who is called to be a preacher must pray to be filled with godly wisdom or else he will be an empty vessel deceiving many with earthly or demonic wisdom. The wisdom from above is pure and filled with good fruits. The wisdom from above is a God seeker and not a mammon seeker. He is not a false worshipper seeking after the world, fame, power and material blessings, pretending to worship God. If we seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness all other things will be added to us. The wisdom from above seeks God’s will and happiness alone. He makes it his business to find out what pleases the Lord and delights in pleasing the Lord.

It is possible to know something and yet not practice what we know. It is possible to know how to bake cake, yet never get up and bake cake. It is possible to know the commands and word of God from Genesis to Revelation yet never walk in it. If you know that the blood of Jesus has set you free, you must live a life of rejoicing, thanksgiving, praise and love towards God for setting you free. You must be grateful. You must stop seeing your past and focus on God’s love and forgiveness.

Knowledge precedes wisdom. A man without knowledge cannot have wisdom because wisdom is right application of knowledge to yield result. If you are not getting result, review your knowledge and wisdom. One or both is very faulty.

It is only wisdom that will guarantee wealth. James 1:5 says  If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”

Then God said to Solomon: “Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked riches or wealth or honour or the life of your enemies, nor have you asked long life—but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself, that you may judge My people over whom I have made you king—wisdom and knowledge are granted to you; and I will give you riches and wealth and honour, such as none of the kings have had who were before you, nor shall any after you have the like.” –  2 Chronicles 1:11

She will place on your head an ornament of grace; a crown of glory she will deliver to you.” – Proverbs 4:9

For wisdom is a defence as money is a defence, but the excellence of knowledge is that wisdom gives life to those who have it. – Ecclesiastes 7:12

How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver. – Proverbs 13:16

Wisdom belongs to God. He is the only source of wisdom. Any man who is hungry for wisdom must go to God. Wisdom is what makes you know what to pray for, where to pray, when to pray and how to pray.

“Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom, thanksgiving and honour and power and might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen.” – Revelation 7:12

“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and honour and glory and blessing!” – Revelation 5:12

If your prayer is not working then you need to seek Gods face for wisdom on what to pray for, when to pray and how to pray. Jesus our example always knew what to pray for, where to pray and how to pray. Jesus always prayed at lonely places. He took the apostles to the garden of Gethsemane. Jesus always prayed throughout the night. He was successful at prayer because He was filled with wisdom. Paul said “imitate me as I imitate Christ”.

It takes wisdom to make us know that we must imitate Jesus and Paul. We must imitate their lifestyle, way of thinking and prayer life. While some Christians are busy struggling with fornication and adultery, Jesus and Paul were busy doing exploits for the kingdom of God. Why? Because they were busy. We can overcome every bad habit by being busy in the plan and purpose of God while inwardly asking for grace.

An idle mind is the devils worship. It is idleness that makes us entertain thoughts that should have no place in us. Being busy can even heal a broken heart because the sad thoughts will not see any space in us.

It was wisdom that made Jesus say to His mother “ don’t you know that I must go about my father’s business” while some people are busy running to mummy and daddy to get advise that opposes God’s will for their lives, Jesus was busy getting inspiration and advise from God.

Mary and Joseph were probably the closest persons to Jesus, yet He was focused. He did not let His parent’s worry keep Him away from the temple. Peter was also in His inner circle and one of His closest disciples, yet Jesus rebuked Peter for giving Him an advice that was contrary to Gods will.

“But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.” – Matthew 16:23

Jesus is our way and example. He had unprecedented and matchless levels of grace, holiness and power from God. Imitating Christ is like oxygen to the lungs. Without that, we will experience failure and fatality instead of victory and triumph. This is wisdom.

Wisdom is the road that never grows thorns and a highway without cracks. Walking on that road will lead us straight to the gate of heaven. Paul and Silas woke up at midnight and sang praises to God. That is wisdom at work.

Jesus Himself is our wisdom from God. The wisdom of God is a person and that person is Jesus. Anytime God gives us wisdom He is giving us Jesus.

Therefore the wisdom of God also said, ‘I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and persecute,’ – Luke 11:49

He was full of wisdom and truth. Wisdom enabled Jesus to walk in God. It is only a man that walks in wisdom that the devil will not have anything in. Without wisdom, we will fall. Having wisdom is not negotiable, either we have it and live in victory or we ignore it and live in failure. God gave Paul wisdom. God gave Joseph favour and wisdom.

As also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you. – 2 Peter 3:15

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. – Proverbs 4:7

And in all your getting, get understanding. Exalt her, and she will promote you. – Proverbs 4:7

A critical look at the life of Jesus will show us wisdom in action. The sad truth about life is that if you are a minister and you are not anointed, famous or rich no one will pay attention to your words of “wisdom”. This is because humanity understands just one word. Success. However, the Holy Spirit can cause a poor unknown preacher to be heard if his wisdom is of God. True wisdom brings success and a poor wise man can deliver a city.

Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city. Yet no one remembered that same poor man. – Ecclesiastes 9:15

Wisdom is better than strength. Nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard. – Ecclesiastes 9:16

But wisdom brings success. – Ecclesiastes 10:10

For wisdom is a defence as money is a defence,
But the excellence of knowledge is that wisdom gives life to those who have it. – Ecclesiastes 7:12

A man without Godly wisdom cannot be anointed or do mighty works. Jesus did mighty works by wisdom. Every wisdom has a spirit behind it and the Holy Spirit is the Spirit behind godly wisdom

And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, that such mighty works are performed by His hands! – Mark 6:2

Understanding

Understanding produces conviction and faith. Faith and conviction produce action. It is only when we understand the word of God that we can happily walk in it.

Understanding enters the heart through constant meditation. The entrance of His words gives light. It gives understanding to the heart. As we think, God will enable us to understand His word.

Understanding is an attribute of the Holy Spirit and only the Holy Spirit can give spiritual understanding. We can read the Bible every week from Genesis to revelation but if we are not humble and pray for understanding, we will be like the teachers of the law during the time of Jesus.

Knowledge

If we do not have complete knowledge of Scriptures, the devil has something in us because he will use our ignorance to outwit us. The Bible says “for we are not ignorant of his devices” I have never heard of a group of believers as smart as those in Berea. They went back to check if what the apostles said was true.

These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. – Acts 17:11

Believers of today have become spiritually lazy. They no longer search the Scriptures to test the spirits and determine for themselves if the doctrine of their church is in line with the Bible. They swallow everything that is preached by their church. Sadly, their church cannot take the position of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is our teacher. The devil has seen this laziness in believers so all he does is manufacture false doctrines and inject them into some churches. That way, he can weaken the whole congregation.

Jesus told the apostles that they were clean by the words He spoke to them. All the while that Jesus was with the apostles, He made sure that He imparted knowledge to them by speaking the word of God to them. Before He left them the words of Knowledge had already cleansed them. They were already sanctified so He told them to wait for power from on high. Cleansing comes before power and knowledge must precede anointing.

You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. – John 13:3

It is only God that can give knowledge and knowledge of God is a secret which is hidden. By our humility and revelation from God, God will give us Knowledge. It is only in the hard places that we learn the most. I have been through the valley of the shadow of death and it is only in trials and difficulties that we learn if we are willing to learn. Some people waste their trials or look for shortcuts. If we respond to God positively in trials, our faith which is more precious that gold will be perfected.

“Count it all joy when you fall into various trials,  knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. – James 1:2

The spirit of knowledge is one of the attributes of God. Jesus was filled with knowledge. The Holy Spirit rested upon Jesus and gave Him the ability to understand the Scriptures accurately. Knowledge is about knowing the mind and will of God in order to please Him. You cannot please someone you don’t know.

“For who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has become His counsellor?” – Romans 11:34

For this reason we have always prayed for you, ever since we heard about you. We ask God to fill you with the knowledge of His will, with all the wisdom and understanding that His Spirit gives. Then you will be able to live as the Lord wants and will always do what pleases Him. Your lives will produce all kinds of good deeds, and you will grow in your knowledge of God. –  Colossians 1:9

The journey to spiritual maturity is not easy and only a man, full of wisdom and the other attributes of the Holy Spirit can get there. We cannot succeed without the fullness of the Holy Spirit.

Counsel

Those who are led by the spirit of God are the sons of God. If we examine the lives of Jesus, the apostles and prophets we will see that they were led by the Holy Spirit. They never took major life decisions without the direction of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is our mentor and our guide. He leads and we follow. We do not lead and expect Him to follow. He is our boss and the captain of our lives. Our life is our ship in the stormy sea of life. He is the one who decides the direction of our ship. Failure is guaranteed when we refuse to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has perfect knowledge of past present and future. He knows the mind of God concerning all things therefore only He is qualified to lead us to the mountain top of spiritual maturity.

He knows the fastest route to the mountain top. A journey of five years to the mountain top can take of 50 years if we refuse the leading of the Holy Spirit. We will waste so many years doing needless things like Martha the sister of Lazarus who was preoccupied with things that are inferior to the word of God.

The most effective and efficient way to get to the mountain top is by 100% obedience to the direction and counsel of the Holy Spirit. To reject His advice is to reject life and success. When we reject His voice we will live in error outside Gods perfect will. We will be doing our own thing and He will be doing His own thing. If we ignore Him, He will ignore us until we repent.

How can a man decide by himself to become a pastor when he is not called to be a pastor? Such pastors end up becoming tyrants and lords over their congregation. They won’t be servants because the gift of pastoring is not there. They will be wolves in sheep’s clothing, exploiting the congregation and revelling in false doctrines because the grace of God is not with them.

Such congregations can never get to the mountain top, smell it or be filled with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit hates lies and errors and can never put His stamp or seal of approval on false Pastors teaching false doctrines. The devil however, will very gladly put His own stamp of approval on them. These doctrines are doctrines contrived to tickle the ear of man and delude man. They will just teach you what sells and boast of their large congregation. They will teach you how to chase after mammon instead of God because they know that most believers don’t love the truth and are looking for short cuts.

The truth is that God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. If we seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness, He will bless us and take us to spiritual maturity. God loves purity and order. We must put first things first and pray to God according to His will. Selfishness and self-seeking can never take us anywhere in our race to the mountain top.

There are lovers of pleasure, lovers of self, lovers of the world, self-seekers, lovers of money. The Bible clearly tells us not to fall into any the listed categories. A lot of believers have fallen by the roadside because they refused counsel from God. They are blind without any direction or guide but Jesus is our light and salvation and He lights our path. The steps of the righteous are ordered of God.

We must never forget that we are on a path and journey and that Jesus is our way. Way to what? Spiritual maturity and heaven. We must never lose focus. All the distractions of the world should never delude us into being earthly minded instead of being heavenly minded.

Might

Might is power. It is power of the Holy Spirit and it is an attribute of the Holy Spirit. Power is God’s ability to cause change and transform our lives. Jesus had unlimited, extended and expanded power. God anointed Him with Holy Ghost and power and enabled Him to go around healing the sick and those oppressed by demons. God was with Him. His garments healed the sick and He even felt power leave Him to heal the woman with the issue of blood. It is not by power or might but by God’s Spirit. In God lies our ability. We have no power of our own. If Jesus, the son of God needed to be anointed, how can we be successful ministers without the anointing. We will just talk and talk and the oppressed will still be suffering.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. – Matthew 6:13

You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God. – Matthew 22:29

Knowing the Scriptures is not enough. We must also know the power of God. We know Gods power by walking in the Scriptures we know and thankfully waiting upon the Lord and seeking His face. His face is His power.

We must seek His power in holiness, humility and faith. There is no choice in this matter if we don’t want the devil to make us play things and toys in his hands. The devil is only afraid of the power of the Lord. He is not afraid of us. The demons said “Jesus I know, Paul I know”.

Jesus and Paul were both anointed with power from on high. Demons can’t stand the power of God that is why they scream and shout when leaving their victims. They fell at Jesus feet and begged Him to cast them out.

Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. (2nd Corinthians 3:17). If we are not experiencing victory and liberty, we need more measure of His power.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” – Luke 4:18

And the power of the Lord was present to heal them. -Luke 5:17

Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region. And He taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all. – Luke 4:14

Then they were all amazed and spoke among themselves, saying, “What a word this is! For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.” And the report about Him went out into every place in the surrounding region. – Luke 4:36

And the whole multitude sought to touch Him, for power went out from Him and healed them all. – Luke 6:19

Jesus promised to baptise us with Holy Ghost and fire. We need fire. The only thing that demons, sicknesses and problems respect and fear is holy fire and fire is the presence of God. They are not afraid of long sermons that do not edify and build us up to the mountain top of spiritual maturity where the fire of God dwells.

Stephen was full of the Holy Spirit, faith and power. Peter was heavily anointed and his shadow healed the sick. Paul was so baptised in the power of God that handkerchiefs he used were taken to the sick and they were healed.

But truly I am full of power by the Spirit of the Lord,
And of justice and might,
To declare to Jacob his transgression. – Micah 3:8

God gave Jesus the Spirit without measure (John 3:34). By the power of the Holy Spirit, David defeated Goliath. By the power of the Holy Spirit, Saul was turned into another man. By the Spirit of the Lord, Peter decreed judgement of death on Ananias and Sapphira because they tested the Spirit of the Lord. By the Spirit of the Lord Philip was caught away and the Eunuch could not see him. Philip was later found at Azotus. The Spirit of the Lord fell upon Ezekiel and He spoke Gods message.

By the Spirit of the Lord Paul pronounced Judgement on the magician Elymas. Micah was full of power by the Spirit of the Lord.

But truly I am full of power by the Spirit of the Lord,
And of justice and might, to declare to Jacob his transgression and to Israel his sin. – Micah 3:8

The Spirit of the Lord transforms us from glory to glory. When God heard the cry of the Israelites, He made Moses a deliverer by putting His Spirit upon Moses. Moses was just acting on Gods behalf. The Spirit of the Lord is the deliverer. Crying and praying precedes deliverance. There must be a deep longing in the heart to be delivered. That deep longing must be expressed in prayer to God.

When the children of Israel cried out to the Lord, the Lord raised up a deliverer for the children of Israel, who delivered them: Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother. The Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he judged Israel. He went out to war, and the Lord delivered Cushan-Rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand. – Judges 3:9

The Spirit of the Lord was upon all the prophets, apostles and evangelists in the Bible. Samson tore a lion by the Spirit of the Lord. After Samuel anointed David, the Spirit of the Lord came upon him and remained with him. David called himself the anointed of the Lord.

Thus says David the son of Jesse;
Thus says the man raised up on high,
The anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel: “The Spirit of the Lord spoke by me
, – 2nd Samuel 23:1

The Lord is slow to anger and great in power,
and will not at all acquit the wicked. – Nahum 1:3

This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel:
‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’
Says the Lord of hosts. ‘Who are you, O Great Mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain! – And he shall bring forth the capstone’. – Zechariah 4:6

When the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, a demon took over. The opposite of demon is Holy Spirit. We need to replace our demons with the Holy Spirit. Unfortunately some people were born with demons just as John the Baptist was filled with the Holy Spirit from the womb. Anyone in that category must thankfully seek Gods face for God to cast out the demon and attach His Spirit to his aura or inner garment. We must put off our grave clothes in the place of prayer.

Fear of the Lord

This attribute of the Holy Spirit has been neglected by the church but it is a life saver and will keep us away from judgement. God is high and holy and we are weak and powerless. Man bitterly hates this truth and prefers to believe that he is a god. Man delights in teachings that tell him that he is I AM. Our Bible clearly teaches that God is the I AM. If you are a god and the I AM then go out there and solve all our problems with your royalty. The truth is that all authority in heaven and earth has been given to Jesus and Jesus has the key of life and death.

“You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power; for You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created.” – Revelation 4:11

Better is a little with the fear of the Lord, than great treasure with trouble. Proverbs 15:16

God is the one who is worthy to receive power and He will share that power with no one. We did not create anything and anyone so why are we coveting what does not belong to us. By seeking power man has destroyed the world through human priests playing God and offering human sacrifices. There is a day of reckoning for those who destroy the earth. God will not be mocked.

All these are happening because there is no fear of God. Man loves worship but the devil offered Jesus all the kingdoms of the world if He would kneel and worship him and Jesus refused. He chose the cross which was the will of God for Him. He did not go for shortcut to power. He chose the narrow way.

Jesus was filled with the fear of the Lord. He was able to resist all temptations and live in the perfect will of God. That is why the devil had nothing in Him.

Establish Your word to Your servant, who is devoted to fearing You. – Psalm 119:38

The fear of the Lord is very lacking in the world and todays Christianity. It is only the fear of the Lord that will make us know that God is the only lawgiver and Judge and that He alone can save and destroy. Jesus Himself advises us to fear and respect the Lord.

But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him! Luke 12:5

We must not mock God or take Him for granted because the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. It is impossible for a man who does not have the fear of the Lord to have wisdom.

And by the fear of the Lord one departs from evil. When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. – Proverbs 10:6

Sadly, a lot of people who claim to have wisdom do not have the fear of the Lord. Earthly wisdom can never fear the Lord so we must try to differentiate the so called wisdom we claim to have. If there is no absolute reverence, respect and fear of God, then we need to review our wisdom and our ways.

By fear of the Lord Joseph refused to sleep with his master’s wife. By the fear of the Lord Abraham obeyed Gods commandment to him to walk before God and be blameless. By the fear of the Lord, our great Bible heroes triumphed. They lived at the mountain top, let us therefore make it our aim to climb that great holy mountain.

Chapter 4

Thorough Knowledge of Scriptures

Accurate knowledge of the way.

There is a way and a road in our Christian journey. We are all pilgrims and are at different stages in our race and journey. The end of the road is maturity and the gate of heaven.

But when Felix heard these things, having more accurate knowledge of the Way – Acts 24:22

Sadly a lot of Christians are oblivious of this journey or have forgotten. They have lost focus because the pastors have also lost focus. Most people delight in hearing about how to own the world. Jesus and Paul never lived like that. They had clear vision and focus and never lost their way.

To remain in the path of the way and arrive at maturity, we must have accurate knowledge of the way. Our knowledge of Scriptures must be complete. Jesus Himself had complete knowledge of Scriptures. When the devil tempted Jesus and tried to make Him sin, Jesus defeated him by the Scriptures. The devil knew that the only way he could control Jesus was through sin. Without accurate knowledge of the Scriptures we will accept the doctrines of men in place of the word of God. We will be deceived into obeying man made doctrines that directly contradict the word of God and think we are serving God. We will be committing sin without even being conscious of it. These kind of sins are knowns as hidden or secret sins. Secret sin is caused by darkness and darkness means believing false laws and thoughts about God.

Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults. Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, and I shall be innocent of great transgression. – Psalm 19: 12

Every way of a man is right in his own eyes,
but the Lord weighs the hearts. – Proverbs 21:2

Your word I have hidden in my heart,
that I might not sin against You. – Psalm 119:11

We must constantly pray to God for Him to reveal hidden sins to us. We must make it our business to find out what pleases God and be willing to do it.

Way of thinking of the righteous

There is a way that righteous people think. Jesus Himself came to restore us to the way of thinking of the righteous.

The world also has its own way and lifestyle but the end of it is destruction. When we go after things that please us even if others are being destroyed, it is the pattern of thinking of the world.

When a leader chooses to embezzle money belonging to millions and subject a whole nation to poverty and destruction, we know that an evil way of thinking is at work. When a group of men gather and gang rape a young girl, an evil way of thinking is responsible.

When a man decides to sleep with a woman that is not his wife that is an evil pattern of thinking at work. When a government decides to legalise homosexuality and even dares to force the church of Jesus Christ to accept it, we know that the beast is at work. The evil way of thinking is the beast. It corrupts and perverts. Ungodly way of thinking is what is destroying the world.

Man is free, but man is not free to disobey the Bible. If you don’t believe the Bible, mind your business and allow those who believe the laws of God to practice their faith.

The mentality of the righteous men in the Bible was different from the mentality of the world.

But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself – Daniel 1:8

Daniel’s way of thinking was righteous. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego refused to bow down to king Nebuchadnezzar’s golden image and god. They knew the implication was death penalty in a burning fiery furnace. Obedience would cost them their lives but they chose obedience.

They chose the way of thinking of the righteous. Esther defied death and did the unthinkable which calls for a death penalty. She said “If I perish, I perish”. She loved not her life unto death but God delivered her. Righteousness had a higher place in them than fear of death. Paul also had the same attitude.

If you like adultery, it is your business, if you like fornication it is your business, if you like homosexuality it is your business but don’t force others to believe in it. We are all free individuals, free to practice our faith. Persecution should not be institutionalised in any modern country. Why should the church be forced to wed homosexuals. I am glad that some churches are not cowardly regarding this matter. Everyone has a right to practice their faith in the way and manner prescribed by their God. We must not be forced into a marriage covenant with the world and way of thinking of the world. We are free.

These men and women mentioned earlier were not cowardly. Jesus promised to cast the cowardly into the lake of fire. If we are ashamed of Jesus here on earth, He promises to deny us before His father in heaven. He will say “I do not know you, you workers of evil”. The church is being forced to worship a false god and there is even no death sentence attached to it like in the case of the three Hebrew boys, yet some churches are shaking.

If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.” – Daniel 3:17

Of course God showed up and delivered them. Also, Daniel refused king Darius firm decree to petition king Darius in place of any god or man for thirty days. Refusal carried the punishment of being cast into the den of lions. God rewarded Daniel by sending His angel to shut the lion’s mouth.

We as believers need to realise that there is a way of thinking for the righteous and submit to that way of thinking, and way and God will quench every burning fiery furnace fashioned against us. He will also shut of the mouth of every Lion sent to harm us in the sea of life.

The Narrow Way

The way of Christianity is a narrow way. It is narrow because the road is full of thorns. Paul said that if there is no hope of resurrection, then we should be pitied more that all men. This is because Christianity requires self-denial and great discipline. Jesus said we should deny ourselves, carry our crosses and follow Him.

“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. – Matthew 7:13

Self-will must be crucified and Christ must be exalted. Following Christ on our journey to the mountain top must cost us something. Jesus said He has come to bring division between mother and father. This means that no individual on this earth should force us to disobey Christ in order to please them.

He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it. – John 10:37

Jesus asked His mother and father if they did not know that He had to go about His father’s business. Jesus said that anyone who does the will of God is His father, mother, brother and sister. We must love the will of God more than mother, father, daughter and son. Embracing the complete will of God is just like losing our own lives but it is in losing our own will and life and clinging to God’s will that we will find life. Doing the will of God is the narrow way. It is a costly priceless jewel that will lead us to the mountain top.

Chapter 5

Self Confidence to God Confidence

The greatest hindrance to prayer is self-confidence and self-reliance.

Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead. – 1 Corinthian 1:8

The Lord spoke to me recently and said “from self-confidence to God confidence”. He also spoke this word to me “expectation”. The combination of confidence in God and expectation is explosive. When we add endurance and patience to those two, we become like Jesus and Paul. We become unstoppable. We will get to the mountain top.

Self Confidence

Self-confidence says tomorrow, I will go to New York and build a castle while God confidence says by God’s grace I will live and build a castle in New York if it is God’s will. Self-confidence makes positive confession his god and God confidence makes God his God.

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. – James 5:13

Any prayer that is not in line with Gods will is futile. What if it is not Gods will for you to live in New York and build a Castle? Will you force God to do it? People have been confessing without the Holy Spirit or humility and they have failed. God gives grace to the humble and Jesus is the high priest that meets our needs. There is a throne of grace to receive mercy in time of need and every good and perfect present comes from God. It is written that God will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory.

The Bible never said that every good and perfect present comes from our confessions. Our confession should be Jesus Christ. We must believe that the blood of Jesus set us free, then present our petitions to God with humility, thanksgiving, praise, worship and rejoicing. We must wait upon the Lord and seek His face.

Confidence is what we depend on and rely on. It is our faith. Do we depend on our power or Gods power? When a man indulges in self-confidence, he loses faith in God and depends on his own power. Self will never rule the world and dethrone God.

This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts. Zechariah 4:6

God Confidence

There is a foundation and there is a power. There is also a person. That person is God. God confidence is when our faith and confidence rests only on the foundation of the blood of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit. God confidence is having confidence in the person and personality of God.

This makes us lose all self-confidence and we depend solely on God to deliver us and provide for us. We have been delivered by the blood of Jesus and must rejoice in God with thanksgiving, praise, worship, celebration. We therefore enter Gods presence with rejoicing and thanksgiving with our petitions.

We wait upon the Lord without guilty conscience till our deliverance manifests. If you approach Gods throne without faith in the blood of Jesus, your faith is faulty and this will be a hindrance to your prayer. We must appreciate the great sacrifice on the cross. We started with God confidence and must complete our race with God confidence.

For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end. Hebrew 3:14

We believe that God delivered us by the sacrifice and blood of Jesus. As we abide in the word of God, seek God’s face with rejoicing, thanksgiving, worship, praise and rejoicing. We expectantly await Gods power and mercy to come upon us and manifest the deliverance He gave us by the cross of Jesus.

Expectation

Your expectation is what you are hoping will come upon you. It is your prayer, your hope, your wish and your desire. It is your dream and your passion. It is what you seek. Your expectation is your help, your glory and your deliverance. Jesus is the expectation of a Christian. He is our glory and help and we must always glory in Him.

The desire of the righteous is only good, but the expectation of the wicked is wrath. – Proverbs 10:23

We must worship God with expectation. We must believe that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. When we pray we must not doubt or be double minded. As long as our prayer is in line with God’s will, He will hear us.

Expectation is what will enable us get the mountain top. If we pray to God for all grace, we must persist and persevere with expectation until we experience the fullness of God. All grace is the final destination and mountain top. God has promised us gladness as our hope.

The hope of the righteous will be gladness, but the expectation of the wicked will perish – Proverbs 10:28

A man with expectation can never be depressed or be in despair. This is because he has confidence that God will do what He promised to do. He also has confidence in the blood of Jesus that set him free. He is sure of his salvation and does not enter God’s presence with a sense of condemnation and guilty conscience.

Jesus said “to those who overcome I will make a pillar in the temple of God.” If it is our sincere desire to overcome and get to maturity, God will provide great grace and all grace. God will give us grace in full measure. All we need is humility, love, faith and expectancy.

For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. – Philippians 1:19

The expectation of the poor shall not perish forever. – Psalm 9:18

My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defence; I shall not be moved. – Psalm 62:5

Expectancy will keep your heart from getting sick. Hope deferred makes a natural man’s heart sick but hope deferred makes a supernatural man’s heart tough. Abraham did not get heart sick when his hope of having a child was delayed.

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life. – Proverbs 10:12

God can override the expectation of an evil person. Every human expects good to happen to him but God warns that evil people should expect evil.

For if we sin wilfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. – Hebrews 10:27

Expectation will keep our hearts strong as we wait upon the Lord and seek His face. Expectation will make us joyful in the midst of trials. By expectation, we celebrate the Lord and rejoice in Him despite our circumstances. Expectation leads us to a life of thanksgiving and gratitude. A joyful heart gives life to the spirit.

A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance,
but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broke
n. – Proverbs 15:13

But he who is of a merry heart has a continual feast. – Proverbs 15:15

An expectant man will not grumble and complain against God because he knows his God will reward him as he diligently seeks God. Jesus lived a life of expectation. He was sure that He would be crowned with glory after enduring the cross. Expectation made Him not to lose focus. When the devil tempted Him, He overcame because He knew where He came from and where He was going to. The devil tried to make the Lord of glory worship him but failed.

We must also have this same attitude. We must be heavenly minded. We must know where we came from and where we are headed to. Even if the devil releases the trials of job on us. We must not lose focus. We must believe that to die is gain and to live is Christ. We must not sell our soul to witchdoctors, psychics, magicians and false pastors who combine Christianity with magic.

We must imitate Jesus at all times. This way, the devil will have nothing in us just like he had nothing in Jesus.

Celebrate His love and ability

Have expectation and celebrate His love, ability and power. Have confidence in what God can do by His power and in what God had done on the cross. Never enter Gods presence with guilty conscience and self-condemnation.

Apart from celebrating the death of Jesus on the cross, we must also celebrate the person of Jesus, our Passover. We must rejoice because our names are written in heaven.

Let us celebrate our Passover, then, not with bread having the old yeast of sin and wickedness, but with the bread that has no yeast, the bread of purity and truth – Corinthians 5: 8

To celebrate means to party and revel. Can you imagine the mental health of a joyful heart? A joyful heart can never suffer from depression. I have seen people with multitude of problems rejoicing in the Lord.

I have seen people that the world perceived as unfortunate, disadvantaged and destitute rejoicing. I have also seen people whom the world considered fortunate and privileged lose it because just one thing was taken away from them. A wife or a husband. But some people never even got married or had children and were disadvantaged with physical health issues and financial difficulties, yet they never lost hope in God. They are filled with gratitude as they keep waiting upon the Lord for relief.

It is our attitude to life that defeats us. God has given us a commandment “celebrate your Passover”. We have passed from death to life. Jesus endured unimaginable anguish and pain just to redeem us so we must be grateful regardless of our circumstances. God is greater than our circumstances so we must focus on God instead of what we don’t have. We must fix our gaze on what is unseen rather than what is seen. We must keep our eyes fixed on the blood of Jesus and heaven and rejoice because our names are written in heaven. We must rejoice because God has cancelled all our punishments.

The apostle Paul was a very positive and joyful man. I never heard him grumble in the Bible regarding his difficulties. I also never read anywhere that Jesus grumbled. Even on the road to Calvary and on the cross, He never grumbled. What a marvellous man!

Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong. – 2nd Corinthians 12:9

Paul was a joyful get up and go man. He was always busy and never idle. Jesus was also never idle. He said “My father is always working and so am I”. Paul was not childish at. He was 100% dedicated to the will of God and even encountered hardship and persecutions while trying to do the will of God. Those difficulties never discouraged him. He was a man of extraordinary grace and courage. He was humble and depended on the grace of God so there was nothing to fear or cry over.

Paul knew that any good thing he could achieve was only by grace so why should he fret? All he needed was prayer and grace so his peace never left him. He never tried to do it on his own. He had revelation knowledge. He knew that without Christ he could do nothing and that all power belongs to Jesus. He never tried to covet or steal some of Gods power or glory for himself.

And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9

It was his positive joyful mind that sustained him in his calling and dedication to God. Paul was so sure of himself and his lifestyle that he said “Imitate me as I imitate Christ”. Really, how many pastors can say that now? Before we make statements like this, we must first of all be dead to mammon and materialism.

We must not love the world or behave like the world. If there is no difference between us and the world, it will be very dangerous for us to make that kind of statement because God is watching us, not from a distance but by the Holy Spirit that is right here in us.

Jesus was also a very positive man and never grumbled against God. He never said “O God, why must I be sacrificed for the whole world?” Jesus was not a grumbler or complainer like most of us, yet He has suffered more than all of us put together.

He suffered so that we will not suffer but if we are not at the mountain top, we will experience trials because Jesus suffered for us to be perfect and complete lacking nothing. He wants us to be mature Christians.

Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect before God.

Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you. – Revelation 3:2

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. – James 1: 2

But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you – 1 Peter 5:10

It is great deception for us to think that we will remain at the bottom of the mountain and never experience hardship. To be whole or healed means to be perfect and complete lacking nothing. Physical conditions are just indications of deeper spiritual issues. They are symptoms.

Being joyful is a choice. If it is not possible for us to be joyful always, the Bible would not have instructed it. Being joyful is a child of knowledge and wisdom. The end result of faith is joyfulness. Knowledge produces faith and hope, and faith gives birth to joy. Just the fact that our names are written in heaven alone is enough to make us joyful. Believing that to die is gain and to live is Christ should make us joyful and hopeful.

Chapter 6

Keep your Hearts and Mind Clean

Please stop telling me that you cannot overcome fornication, lying, and gossiping because you can. The Bible says we can so we can. All we need is to believe and ask for grace with humility and God will help us overcome any sin including homosexuality.

God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble – James 4:6

But if you have convinced yourself that you cannot overcome a particular sin, then you have been defeated in your mind and will never be able to overcome that sin.  Your own mind and thoughts defeated you not God and not the devil. You are the one responsible.

If we open the door of our hearts to the devil, he will open the door of his chambers to us. If we want to become dogs and pigs and delight in all sorts of perversion and filth, we will become unclean in the eyes of angels and demons. Demons, will therefore not have any respect for us when we become unclean.

However, if we decide to become clean and pray for wisdom and grace, God will provide for us and cleanse us. The blood of Jesus will cleanse us from all unrighteousness. God will make us complete by the blood of Jesus.

Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. – Hebrew 13:20

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. – James 1 – 5

Keep away from false doctrines

Accepting false doctrines makes us unclean. We must know what the Bible says concerning every Bible subject and stick to it. It is only lack of fear of God that makes man boldly contradict the Bible in order to worship idols. All false doctrines cunningly derail us into accepting doctrines of demons and worship demons. Demons are idols. They are snares that must be aggressively rejected because the penalty for false worship is spiritual death.

A believer who is struggling with other sins is a million times better than a so called righteous man belonging to a religion of false doctrines and false worship. False worshippers are idol worshippers who eat with demons and demons eat human flesh and blood.

A false worshipper is an ignorant partaker of human blood. No matter how externally clean or righteous an idol worshipper claims to be, he is defiled, dead and polluted before God. It is better to be clean in faith than be unclean in faith. An idol worshipper is unclean in faith. He eats with demons. Without blood there is no remission of sins. You are either partaking in the blood of Jesus or partaking in human blood. These are secret things that the eyes of man cannot see. It takes revelation to see the world the way it really is and behold spiritual realities. Jesus has 20/20 spiritual vision. He sees all things.

Idol worship is so unclean that the Bible commands us not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers because the temple of God has nothing in common with the temple of idols. If we want to be clean we must not have intimate close friendship with idol worshippers or live in the same house with them. Their idols pollute the environment they live in.

This will in turn defile your inner garment. It is our responsibility to make sure our garments are not stained by our own sins or other people’s idols and sins. An idol worshippers demons can easily pour its urine or evil presence on the garment of a believer who is intimate with his worshipper. We must always be clean. We must keep away from every sin.

You have a few names even in Sardis who have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with Me in white, for they are worthy. – Revelation 3:4

Those who are sinning rebuke in the presence of all, that the rest also may fear. – 1 Timothy 5:20

Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, nor share in other people’s sins; keep yourself pure. – 1 Timothy 5:22

White Garment

We cannot have complete life without our white garment. Anyone who is not teaching you how to put on your white garment is deceiving you. Our white garment is priceless and indispensable.  The white garment is promised to those who overcome not to self-seekers and lovers of self, pleasure and money. Those who love this present world, titles, positions, money, society, fame, power and men pleasers will find it difficult to put on their white garment. God seekers and God pleasers are the ones who will overcome and be clothed with the white garment of purity and cleanliness.

He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. Revelation 3:5

I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. – Revelation 3:18

Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you! Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten. – James 5:2

A man can be physically rich, yet be internally stinking with moth eaten inner garment. He is putting on grave clothes without being aware of it. He is a grave man and belongs to the grave despite His wealth, popularity and fame. He is deluded and deceived because he lives by sight. He only believes in what he can see. As far as he is concerned, all is well because he is physically fine.

It is only by constant watching and prayer that our garments will be white. All grace is what will clothe us with the white garment. Men who arrive at all grace are the ones called blessed by God almighty. When we are putting on our white garment, we will not struggle to be blessed, we will be automatically blessed. God will overtake, overwhelm and overshadow us with His blessings just like He favoured Solomon with outstanding blessings.

“Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.”- Revelation 16:15

Instead of chasing after blessings, we should be chasing after God and putting on our white garment. That way, we will get to the mountain top of Christian maturity and the devil will have nothing in us like he had nothing in Jesus. Our garment will be sparkling white without spots or blemish.

Some Christians were putting on grave clothes before they became born again and have not paid the price to change their garments but our garments must be transformed, renewed and changed. We need to be transformed from glory to glory as we seek God’s face. We must work out our salvation with fear and trembling. God has redeemed us but we must do what we need to do to experience higher dimensions of His grace. We have a part to play. Great grace will not just fall on us, we must seek Gods face and wait upon Him with faith and complete obedience.

Hating even the garment defiled by the flesh. – Jude 1:23

Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and was standing before the Angel.

Then He answered and spoke to those who stood before him, saying, “Take away the filthy garments from him.” And to him He said, “See, I have removed your iniquity from you, and I will clothe you with rich robes.”

And I said, “Let them put a clean turban on his head.”

So they put a clean turban on his head, and they put the clothes on him. – Zechariah 3:3

The flesh plays a very vital role in defiling our garments. The opposite of the flesh is grace. We must make it our concern to get rid of self-seeking, self-dreams, passions, desires, ambitions and attitudes. It is self that makes us angry and not overlook insults. It is self that makes man to steal, kill and embrace every kind of vice.

It is self that makes a baby Christian defile a woman he knows he is not sure he will marry. It is also self that makes the woman allow herself to be defiled because she thinks the man will marry her. Why not just get married like other people. Divorce also defiles our garment.

“For the Lord God of Israel says that He hates divorce, for it covers one’s garment with violence,” – Malachi 2:16
Self has been enthroned. Self must get pleasure, money, respect, power and fame at any and every cost to the next man. It is self that makes priests turn a man made in the image of God into a god and a contemptible sacrifice in the race of life. Such a victim becomes a living dead, dustbin and rest room where people dump problems and he is powerless to stop it. In the spirit world he is a god but physically he is constantly tormented, afflicted and harassed by demons. Physically he is covered with shame, suffering and pain but spiritually he has been elevated as a god. He is a burnt offering and a living perpetual sacrifice for others. This is hidden to the eyes of ordinary men.

Self is shameless and full of abominations. How can we expect a holy God to ignore such abominations? We must run for cover. We must leave self behind and run out of false religious systems because self is desperately wicked. Both the priests and the congregation are ruled by the god of self. We need to flee and there is no other choice in this matter

God’s grace must replace self. Once we yield and submit to God’s system and way to the mountain top, Christian maturity will not elude us and our garments will be changed and cleansed.

The Garment of Jesus

You are what your garment is. The garment of Christ reflects who He is.

One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band – revelation 1:13

“I watched till thrones were put in place, and the Ancient of Days was seated; His garment was white as snow, and the hair of His head was like pure wool.
Throughout the earthly life of Jesus, His garment was always white and after His death He was clothed with the glory of God.

O Lord my God, You are very great: You are clothed with honour and majesty, Who cover Yourself with light as with a garment – Psalm 104:1

The physical garment of Jesus was saturated with the glory of God as result of His outstanding purity, humility and devotion to God. He was disciplined and lived a life of prayer and self-denial. He lived like a servant instead of a King. Humility is so very powerful and attractive to God. He was clothed with humility, thanksgiving and praise.

And begged Him that they might only touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched it were made perfectly well. – Luke 14:36

And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment. For she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.” But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, “Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour. – Matthew 9:20

There was no shadow or darkness around Him. He was a happy, joyful man on fire for the glory of God. He was a perfect man and He demands perfection from us because He knows the secret and key to the kingdom of God and wants us to partake of His knowledge. He gave Peter the keys and principles to the kingdom of God but the church has lost the key. Fortunately the Holy Spirit has the key and the key is in the word of God.

It is impossible to be anointed with an unclean garment. You cannot sew a new garment on the old one. You take off the old garment and replace it with the new one. Most of the failure and false doctrines we witness in the church today is due to unclean garment.

When Adam and Eve found out they were naked they started hiding from God. Most unclean Christians are naked and are manufacturing all sorts of false doctrines to cover their nakedness and helplessness. Naked of power and helpless without the Holy Spirit our helper.

Cleanliness precedes power and Jesus was absolutely pure and clean. Power sought and followed Him, He did not seek or follow power. He sought the perfect will of God. God’s will was His food, happiness and passion.

Jesus started with prayer and ended with prayer. Jesus lived a life of constant communion with God.

 Chapter 7

Union with God

Union with God is about knowing the mind and will of God and doing it. Without knowing the mind and will of God it becomes impossible to please God. Pleasing God can often be like a huge daunting task. If we do not make it our desire to pursue God by His word at all times, we will be unsuccessful in pleasing Him. We will just keep wanting to please Him without tangible result.

Following God can only be achieved by following the word of God.

Union of Will

Our first priority as Christians is to have one will with God. We can only have one will God if we have one mind with God. One mind with God comes from the written and specific spoken word of God.

In our quest for the will of God, we must let go of any other will or desire that contradicts the word of God. We must die to our passions and dreams and live for Gods passions, desires and purpose.

If it is Gods will for you to be a doctor and you are an Accountant, you will be outside Gods will and will not get to the mountain top. If God wants you to be a preacher and you are an engineer, you will experience woe. Paul said “Woe to me if I don’t preach the gospel”. There is no negotiation or choice. Submit or experience trouble.

If we seek God’s will 100% without any part of us seeking self then God will reward us because He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. We are not seeking Gods will because of His reward. We seek God’s will and just believe the word of God that says He is a rewarder of these that diligently seek Him. We also believe the word of God that says “seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all other things will be added to you”. Additionally, we believe His word that says “you cannot serve God and Mammon.”

The Bible says “find out what pleases the Lord “. Loving others is pleasing to God. Believing that the blood of Jesus set us free pleases the Lord. Resisting the devil without pleasing the Lord is completely is futile. The only way to resist the devil is to make sure that the devil has nothing in us. We must get rid of the sin that so easily entangles.

Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. – Hebrew 12:1

Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep Romans 12:15

“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You?  Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ Luke 25:37

Union of Passions, Desire and Purpose

God has His plans and purpose for our lives. A certain man did not know Gods will for his life and wasted his life living outside Gods will. God wanted him to be a doctor but he was a teacher and died a teacher. As a result he never experienced the best of God. Living outside Gods purpose will never lead you to the mountain top. We should make it our business to know God’s plan and purpose for our lives.

A certain man knew that God wanted him to be an evangelist. However, he could never really work around how to start or how to be an evangelist. He never knew the secret of starting out serving under another evangelist. He was confused and discouraged and went into prayer seeking the face of God. Just one word of knowledge from God which was later confirmed by another preacher liberated him and he was able to submit to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

A certain woman was called to be an evangelist but she was a banker and loved banking. After a while, her life became dry and nothing she did went well for her. She decided to submit but the how of how to start off being an evangelist overwhelmed her and she nearly gave up. She had no friends in ministry and no one to help her in this huge assignment from God.

She went into prayer with joy and thanksgiving and waited upon the Lord for guidance and direction. She did not go for deliverance because there is no short cut. We must seek the face of God. Success is about hearing the direction of God from the Holy Spirit and obeying it. Those who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God.

The Holy Spirit revealed to her that it is His will for her to marry a minister whom she would start a ministry with. Subsequently, she had to pray fervently for a husband with a call to ministry. God sorted her out by giving her a minister for a husband and she was able to fulfil Gods will for her life. Living outside Gods plan will only bring frustration and discontent because you are not fulfilling the purpose of your creation.

Solomon prayed for wisdom to rule Gods People well. He made sure that he was living in God’s will. He asked God for wisdom to rule instead of asking for riches.

David was a man after God’s heart. David delighted in Gods commandment and was a faithful King. Abraham obeyed Gods direction to leave his native father land and go to another land. He lived in Gods choice and was blessed.

Jesus said “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work” and Paul also said “except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that chains and tribulations await me. But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God”. – Acts 20:24

Your ways will be pleasing to God when you arrive at Christian maturity. Peace will be your companion and joy will be an ornament on your head. You will be crowned with joy and grace will be a decoration on your neck.

Chapter 8

Faith

The Bible says that these three remain faith, hope and love.

Faith is not a simple concept to explain. Some people think that faith is a one way traffic but it is not. Faith is multi-dimensional and multi directional. Faith is not positive confession. Positive confession is positive confession and faith is faith. Faith is made up of complex variables, so let no man reduce faith to positive confession with new age rules and regulations.

Let us go into the Bible and explore this concept called faith. Anytime we believe God on any Bible subject, we can say we have faith. Faith requires action. If we believe and do not obey, we don’t have faith. Faith does not mean not having trials, the men of God in the Bible with mighty faith had trials.

Faith is an attitude of the heart regarding God, Gods word and the circumstances of life. Faith is the evidence of things not seen and the substance of things hoped for. Faith involves the ability to persevere and be patient under trials. Faith includes absolute obedience to the commandments of God and way of worship as stipulated in the new order of worship in the New Testament. Faith must prove itself in works. Obedience is an act of faith. Faith also includes expectations.

Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” – Matthew 25:41

He has told us of the love that the Spirit has given you. – Colossians 1: 8

It is only the Holy Spirit that gives faith, hope and love.

Jesus is our Faith

Faith means believing in God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. We believe in Jehovah as the almighty over gods, lords, principalities and powers. We also believe in His word, His past deeds and what He can do in the Future. All in all He becomes our confidence, faith and hope.

Thinking about Him as our Lord, provider, protector, healer, guide, counsellor and comforter. We depend on Him for everything and He becomes our sustenance. We realise that our victory and deliverance comes from Him and without Him we can do nothing.

The Foundation

We are to enter into the holiest by boldness and faith in the blood of Jesus. We are to enter in full assurance of faith. We must enter His presence with hearts devoid of self-condemnation and free of guilty conscience. We must believe that the blood of Jesus has set us free and God is not counting our sins against us. We are free and forgiven and our God has declared us not guilty. We are redeemed and have been delivered from the kingdom of darkness. We believe that God cancelled all our sins and nailed them to the cross. We rejoice in God’s great love and forgiveness.

We must also enter His presence with expectation of answered prayer. We must believe that God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him and that Jesus will meet our needs as we thankfully seek Him. We approach the throne of grace to find help and receive mercy in time of need.

– Hebrew 10:19

In union with Christ and through our faith in Him we have the boldness to go into Gods presence with confidence through faith. – Ephesians 3:12

Rejoicing is a very important element of faith. Our faith should make us celebrate what we believe in. We must rejoice in the Lord always. We must go into His presence with thanksgiving, praise, worship, rejoicing and hope. We must not be anxious rather, we must party in the Lord as we present our requests and petitions to Him.

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations. – Psalm 100:4

I believe that if we seek the Holy Spirit and Gods will, every other thing will be added to us. Besides, when the Holy Spirit comes upon us we will be turned into another man like Saul. We will become channels of blessings instead of a seekers of blessings. This is why it is very important for us to be focused.

But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you. – Luke 12:31

The Power

We must have faith in the active power of God. In what Gods power has done and what it can do. The death of Jesus Christ on the cross is the power of God. It is our foundation but we must also depend on the Holy Ghost power. Jesus told the apostles to wait for the power from on high. In addition to knowing the Scriptures, we also need to know the power of God.

Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God. – Matthew 22:29

Jesus is our Baptizer and He promised to baptize us with Holy Ghost and fire. This fire is the power of God. Jesus Himself was baptized with the Holy Ghost and power. Paul said “that the power of Christ may rest upon me” and said he is not just preaching words but he is also preaching with power. It is only when the Spirit of the Lord comes upon us that we are transformed from glory to glory. The last Adam is the life giving Spirit and the Holy Spirit gives life.

Even after the day of Pentecost, the apostles still prayed for boldness and power to fulfil ministry. The power of God must be renewed daily.

The littleness of our Mountains

Seeing your problem as little builds faith and removes fear. A mountain is any problem or obstacle that binds you and keeps you from fulfilling your God ordained destiny. It can be illness, demonic oppression, poverty, sin, loneliness, sadness among many others. Anything that clings to you which is negative and unwanted is a mountain.

We must also realise that our greatest mountain is not living in Christian maturity. When we are content to live below Gods will, this can open the door to mountains of trials. Those trials are actually symptoms of not living in Christian maturity and not having the Holy Spirit upon us just like fever is a symptom of flu. Get rid of the flu virus and the fever flees.

So if we are perfect and complete lacking nothing, our trials will flee. We will be doing exploits for the kingdom. Trials have a purpose and that is to make us respond positively and grow out of immaturity. When we fulfil the purpose of trials there will be no need for us to be tried.

There are different ways of handling mountains. We can walk round our mountains, speak to our mountains, or destroy our mountains.

False religions relocate and displace mountains. They transfer mountains to unsuspecting victims. This is witchcraft and an abomination before God.

Mountains must be destroyed by the power of the Holy Spirit. If a mountain is thrown into a sea that sea should be the sea of the Holy Ghost. The sea is a presence. It is only the fire of the Holy Spirit that destroys mountains.

As we meditate on the power of God and His ability, our mountains will begin to shrink and God will be enlarged, lifted up or exalted in our eyes. Ultimately we must pray to God to destroy our mountains.

We must know the power of God and what God can do. With God nothing shall be impossible and what is impossible with man is possible with God. We must also realise that faith without works is dead.

Faith in Heaven and Having the Goal of Maturity

This is the most superior type of faith and anchor for the soul. Any other type of faith that we have which has excluded the focus of heaven and maturity will eventually lead to deception. Any mountain that we destroy must be mountains that hinder our goal of heaven and maturity.

Deliverance and healing are good as components of our journey towards maturity. Carrying extra baggage of inherited afflictions will become loads that will slow our journey and make our walk with God less than God’s will. We must ask God to destroy the baggage even as we race to the Promised Land. We must remain in faith and confidence to conquer.

But Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end. Hebrew 3:6

Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:

“For yet a little while, And He who is coming will come and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith;
But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him.” But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul. – Hebrew 10:35

The whole body of Christian belief is our faith. Jesus is also our faith. Our faith can also be weak, strong or healthy.

But you must teach what agrees with sound doctrine. Instruct the older men to be sober, sensible, and self-controlled; to be sound in their faith, love, and endurance. – Titus 2:1,2

In union with Christ and through our faith in Him we have the boldness to go into Gods presence with confidence. – Ephesians 3:12

Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. – Mark 11:24

Complete faith in the love and forgiveness of God is what attracts the mercy of God upon us. Faith is vital and crucial to our Christian race. We must also add love and hope to faith. May our faith, hope and love continue to grow by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Chapter 9

The Lordship of Christ

All Power Belongs To Jesus

Jesus has matchless purity and holiness. Most people crave after power without purity but power without purity is pathetic and despicable. It is better to be the weakest poorest man on earth than accept magical power. This will put you in a position far beneath demons in the world of the dead. A living man is better than a ghost.

Jesus deserves the power given to Him. After His resurrection, God crowned Him with glory and enthroned Him at His right side.  His holiness, humility, selflessness and purity were very outstanding.

The Roman soldier said to Jesus “you say to this go and it goes and you say come and it comes”. He was able to see the great authority and royal power belonging to Jesus. He saw Jesus as a commander and controller. He saw Jesus as commander and Chief of spiritual powers who is above every power. He had such amazing faith that He knew that Jesus did not need to travel to his house so he said to Jesus “Just say the word and my servant will be healed”.

Most of us say Lord, Lord without knowing the meaning of Lord. A lord has complete power over his territory and his subjects. We became born again to serve the Lord Jesus. We are His children, servants and slaves.

Jesus has such complete power over heaven, earth and the world of the dead that He can bind and defeat every power. Nothing can happen without His knowledge and permission. He even has power over the forces of nature. The winds and the waves obeyed Him when He was on earth and He walked on water.

Jesus said in revelations that He has the key of death and hades. The Good news translation says that He has authority over death and the world of the dead. Why then do people go to the world of the dead to look for power and gods? However, gods that did not create the earth will be destroyed from the surface of the earth.

“You put on your perfumes and ointments to worship the god Molech. To find gods to worship, you send messengers far and wide, even to the world of the dead” – Isiah 57:9

Don’t they have enough wisdom to realise that the dead must save themselves first and stop living in the grave if they truly have power? No wonder Paul called them weak and pathetic ruling spirits. By the natural order of things man is superior to demons that is why earth, the home of man is above the grave, the world of the dead and home of the dead.

The Bible says in John that Jesus knew that the father had given Him complete power. All power in heaven and earth has been given to Jesus. Jesus even had power to lay down His life and take it back.

No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. – John 10:17

Christ has the power to bring everything under His rule. That is why demons and sickness are subject to Him and flee in His name. There is nothing and no power in heaven, earth or under the earth that Christ cannot defeat. The only obstacles between heaven and earth is sin and the will of man. Man must be anointed by God to manifest the power of Christ and that does not come cheaply.

According to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself. – Philippians 3:21

Who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him. – 1 Peter 1:22

He shall cut off the spirit of princes; He is awesome to the kings of the earth. – Psalm 76:12

The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes. – Proverbs 21:1

Jesus is head over principalities and powers. In revelation, when the Lamb went to open the seal the twenty four elders fell down and worshipped. On His thigh was written King of kings and Lord of lords. God exalted Jesus and gave Him a name that is above and superior to every other name so that at the name of Jesus every knee must bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord to the glory of God the father. After achieving forgiveness for human sins, He sat down at the right side of God, the supreme power.

He is ruler over the kings of the earth. These are powers that rule this earth both visible and invincible. In Revelation all beings worshipped Jesus.

And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying:

“Blessing and honour and glory and power be to Him who sits on the throne, And to the Lamb, forever and ever!”

Then the four living creatures said, “Amen!” And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped Him who lives forever and ever. – Revelation 5:13

Jesus did not win to be idle, He won to rule and He is ruling. We must let Him control us and rule us. Christ set us free for freedom. Freedom from judgement and sin. He set us free that we may obtain freedom. Those who live in sin live in death or divine judgement.

For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son,

He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” – John 3:36

The good news translation says “but he remains under Gods punishment.”

Jesus is the high priest that meets all our needs. Righteousness and justice are the foundations of His throne. There are principalities and powers but psalm 62 tells us that power belongs to God and mercy also.

Holy and awesome is His name. – Psalm 111:9

That power belongs to God. Also to You, O Lord, belongs mercy. – Psalm 62:11

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; Mercy and truth go before Your face. – Psalm 89:14

God stands in the congregation of the mighty;
He judges among the gods. Psalm 82:1

All the gods bow down before the Lord. – Psalm 82:1

Submission

Our lives can only have meaning and fulfilment when we submit completely to Christ. The Bible says “let the Spirit control your lives and you will not fulfil the desires of the flesh”.

That we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin. Romans 6:6

Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.  And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. – 8:34

We are slaves of God and Holiness. Most Christians have not understood the secret of being submissive to God. James said “submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee”. Complete submission yields complete victory. We want to resist the devil by binding divine judgment and trials that only the Holy Spirits power can destroy. We resist the devil by 100% submission to God. Then, we will be anointed to bind.

If we have an inherited problem that we did not cause, we must go into serious prayer and thankfully wait upon the Lord. We must seek Gods face until His love and mercy manifests. We also need divine direction from God on how best to pray and what exactly to pray for. Ultimately we must pray for God to fill us with His Holy Ghost power, clothe us with the Holy Spirit and crush our problem.

We must destroy inherited mountains like family idols and ask God to heal our foundations. We must try to solve spiritual problems the Bible way not our own way. Without God we can do nothing and are powerless and helpless. Additionally, we must submit to the Lordship of Christ and make holiness our King. We must be slaves of God and holiness. That is submission of the highest order. Submission can only be obtained by the power of Christ and grace of God. There is no other way.

For it is good that the heart be established by grace, not with foods which have not profited those who have been occupied with them. – Hebrew 13:9

We need to become living sacrifices by making it our business to find out what pleases God and doing it. We must live in the perfect will of God. We need to surrender to Christ’s dominion.

Submission and dedication will end every confusion and roadblocks to the mountain top. Our lives will take on meaning and we end up clothed with the power of Christ. Without complete submission we experience prolonged immaturity and delays to the mountain top of Christian maturity.

Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?  But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness.

For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness.  What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 6:16 -23

Destroyer of Sins

Christ is the destroyer of sins. Anything that creates a wall or blockage between you and God is sin and only Christ can destroy it. There is no sin that is bigger than God including idols set up by ancestors or parents. Our only hope is the power of Christ.

O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord! – Romans 7:24

We must hand that sin or idol over to Christ in prayer and He will crush it. Those who decide to worship idols have decided to live in the world of the dead. They fellowship with the dead or demons.

“Those who regard worthless idols. Forsake their own Mercy. – Jonah 2:8

With God nothing shall be impossible.

Chapter 10

Prayer, Passion and Enemies

If there are enemies in our lives who have taken an oath of no repentance to destroy us and our destiny, it is our responsibly to pray to God to consume them like Pharaoh and Saul. The Lord told me to pray ‘’Holy Ghost fire consume them” with a passion and He said to me “you must want them consumed with a vengeance’’. He also said “fire is the only thing they are afraid of’’ He also said to me “Worship is the root of prayer, but you must tell me what you want.’’ We must also bear in mind that we must spend most of our prayer time rejoicing in the Lord, thanking him and loving Him for our salvation. God knows what we want before we come into His presence. However we must mention it to Him but not spend too much time focusing on our needs. We must focus on His salvation and His ability. We must focus on His great love and forgiveness on the cross.

Persistent prayer is a prayer of passion and fire. It is not a lazy lukewarm prayer. The Lord also said to me “Pray without ceasing is what I expect from you’’. Waiting upon the Lord and seeking His face will cost us in terms of time, holiness and dedication. Christianity is a narrow way. It is a life of great discipline.

Wait on the Lord, and keep His way, And He shall exalt you to inherit the land; when the wicked are cut off, you shall see it. Psalm 37: 34

God is a God of justice and judgement, we cannot afford to be toys in the hands of our enemies. If a human has formed a secret mutiny with demons to destroy us and our destiny, we must pray with passion until our enemy is consumed. In the process of consuming our enemies, they might decide to repent or not to repent.

If God cannot force a human to repent, we unfortunately cannot force our enemies to repent. Pharaoh and Saul decided not to repent in destroying the Israelites and David respectively. Why will a human being created in the image of God sell his soul to the devil and vow not to repent.

Jesus Himself commands us to pray like the persistent widow against our stubborn enemies. We can now see that enemies are in different categories. Enemies that are ordinary weak humans like us, harming us as a result of normal human flaws are handled differently from enemies like stubborn Pharaoh, Saul and Haman who vow to eliminate us and our destiny.

Enemies that refuse to stop harming us even after many attempts for reconciliation are also in their own category. Jesus says we are to treat them like pagans but He did not ask us to pray for judgement on them. But enemies like the ones troubling the widow, who denied her, her rights, are the ones that we must identify and pray to God for judgement and vengeance to fall on. When Paul decreed blindness on the magician Elymas, he was forced to repent. Sometimes, repentance will not come without fire or force.

It takes faith to pray with passion until God steps in and avenges us of our adversaries.

There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man. Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to Him, saying, ‘Get justice for me from my adversary.’ And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, ‘Though I do not fear God nor regard man, yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’

Then the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said.  And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?” Luke 18:3

Then Saul, who also is called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him and said, “O full of all deceit and all fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease perverting the straight ways of the Lord? And now, indeed, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you shall be blind, not seeing the sun for a time.”

And immediately a dark mist fell on him, and he went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand. Then the proconsul believed, when he saw what had been done, being astonished at the teaching of the Lord. Acts 13:9

Our God is not weak. Left to our enemies we become dead meat. If an unjust judge can step in and avenge the widow of her adversaries, why should we think that God, our just judge wants us to be silent so that we can be doormats for our enemies? It is our lack of knowledge that destroys us.

The widow was being denied her rights. If we let our enemies take away our covenant right of healing, prosperity and deliverance, they will be very glad to do so without regrets. We must pray for vengeance with stubborn persistent faith like the widow. However, we must spend more time praising, thanking, celebrating and loving God for our salvation. Then we lovingly tell Him to help us. Our focus must be more on love and worship than the asking. We must not let our hearts be filed with what the enemy is doing because that crushes faith. We must spend more time celebrating God for the love and forgiveness He showed us at the cross.

The widow was not playing around or saying “if God wants let Him avenge me”. She knew what she wanted from the judge and went after it with a heart of passion and dedication. Even the souls in the alter of God were crying out for vengeance.

When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held. And they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” Rev 6:9

Any man who thinks that God’s mercy is an avenue to go on a killing spree is completely deluded. We must flee every appearance of evil. Complete holiness is not an option but mandatory. The same Jesus that told us to forgive our enemies and pray for them, told us to pray for vengeance on a different category of enemies. This is because enemies are in different categories.

Man must stop shedding blood and realise that God is not weak. Man will reap what he sows. We must forgive our enemies and have no ill will towards them. At the same time we must pray to God for judgement and intervention on abnormal enemies. God’s judgement is holy and righteous. We are not committing sin by praying for divine justice or judgement.

David never wished Saul death or tried to harm or take revenge on him in anyway, however he prayed to God to deliver him from his enemy. He never had ill will towards Saul, he loved Saul however he left room for Gods judgement. He prayed for judgement because Saul was determined to kill him.

Moreover, my father, see! Yes, see the corner of your robe in my hand! For in that I cut off the corner of your robe, and did not kill you, know and see that there is neither evil nor rebellion in my hand, and I have not sinned against you. Yet you hunt my life to take it.  Let the Lord judge between you and me, and let the Lord avenge me on you. But my hand shall not be against you. As the proverb of the ancients says, ‘Wickedness proceeds from the wicked.’ But my hand shall not be against you. After whom has the king of Israel come out? Whom do you pursue? A dead dog? A flea? Therefore let the Lord be judge, and judge between you and me, and see and plead my case, and deliver me out of your hand.” 1 Samuel 24:11-15

Paul says do not take revenge rather leave room for Gods vengeance. He did not say, “Do not take revenge and do not leave room for Gods vengeance, fold your hands and be a spiritual victim and perpetual doormat.”

We must love our enemies, we must help them, and we must not have animosity or ill will towards them. However, we must pray for judgement if that enemy has taken an oath of no repentance to destroy us and our destiny spiritually or physically like Saul and Pharaoh, or even Haman that wanted to terminate the Jews. Enemies who fight the gospel and Gods ministers were handled differently by Paul. He prayed to God to repay the coppersmith according to his works.

Alexander the coppersmith did me much harm. May the Lord repay him according to his works. – 2 Timothy 4: 14

If our enemy is ordinary and suffering from normal human weakness and has not taken an oath to eliminate us and our destiny, please pray to God to bless him. The Bible commands that. However, enemies like pharaoh, Saul and Haman must be aggressively resisted in the place of prayer. There are many Pharaohs, Saul’s and Haman’s parading the earth today. The kingdom of heaven suffers violence and the violent take it by force not by weakness.

Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink;
For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:19

If someone declares spiritual war on us, we must not fold our arms and watch them stubbornly and persistently rain bullets on us with no intention of ceasefire, rather we must seek the face of God until Gods bullets overpower them and they either repent or perish.

It is our duty to pray and it is Gods position to defeat them however He finds suitable. If they can be subdued, He will cause them to repent and if they cannot be subdued, they will be destroyed. The Lord spoke to me and said ‘’ Mr Z is not trainable’’ He also said ‘I will subdue those who can be subdued but some people cannot be subdued’’. Those who cannot be subdued persist in evil till they die. It is our responsibility to pray with passion and persistence, God will not do it for us. It should be our prayer and wish for enemies to repent but if they are not willing to repent, it is not our fault.

The mountain top of spiritual maturity is a must for all Christians. May we all overcome every sin, distraction, obstacle, blockage, affliction, trial, enemy and mountain and arrive at the mountain top. Then we can boldly say like Jesus “He has nothing in me.”

The standard that God has for us is the same standard that He had for Jesus, Paul and other others apostles. That standard is “He has noting in me.” Let us therefore, constantly pray for grace to live above the devil it is only when we live above the devil that we can confidently boast of that the devil has nothing in us. This guarantees a place in spiritual maturity and takes us to the mountain top. It is only at the mountain top that there is deliverance.

It should be our aim to strive towards He has nothing in me. Nothing else will do. All other ambitions are ambitionless until we make He has nothing in me our Chief and ultimate ambition.
