LIVING A PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE.

Life as it is, is a journey, with a start point and a destination, we could be travelling in a direction without a rudder or sense of purpose, and as such miss our God ordained purpose and destiny.

We are confronted with many challenges, which sometimes is a result of the path we choose. Every life is driven by something, guilt, fear, insecurity, anger, resentment, money, etc.

But God wants us to live a purpose driven life, driven by His plan, His purpose for our life; for us to find meaning, joy, fulfilment and significance.

A purposeful life is about leading a meaningful and purpose driven life. A purpose driven life is a life rooted in Christ in spiritual wholeness and completeness; lacking nothing it also mean to be thoroughly skilled for God’s purpose. This cannot be achieved by our physical efforts only but by the inspiration of God’s spirit, leading us to do His will.

Before the creation of the world, God has planned for us, He planned our purpose, even before we were born. when we fulfill our purpose it brings honor to God and it brings fulfillment to us too.

Jesus was a perfect example. In john 17:4 I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do. As believers? we bring glory to God by completing the work God gave us to do.

having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He [a]made us accepted in the Beloved.

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and [b]prudence, having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, 10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, [c]both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him. 11 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will.

Ephesians 1:5-11

There are 3 primary aspects of God’s purpose for our life

1. God wants us to be His friend. john 15:13-15, James 2:23

2. God wants us to help others.

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Ephesians 2:10

God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.1 Peter 4:10

3. God wants us to create a positive influence on our world.

And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. .

Mark 16:15

Prayer: Lord, give me the grace to live according to God’s purpose.

MEDITATE ON THE WORD.

I have more understanding than all my teachers, For Your testimonies are my meditation.

Psalm 119:99

What is meditation? meditation is rehearsing or thinking about something in particular until it becomes so real to you. Meditation also means to ponder on something actively until consciously or unconsciously, it becomes part of you and causes you to act in a particular manner.

Meditation is reading the Word, then opening the mind and thinking about the word until it becomes evident in the spiritual eyes of your heart, your imagination.

Do you know that worrying is meditating?

Worries, doubts, and anxieties are a part of life, but dwelling on them leads to negative emotions. God wants us to meditate on His word to remedy our life challenges and set our minds right from negative emotions harmful to our minds and spirit.

As believers, to meditate means to deliberately think about God’s word until it becomes a part of us. Meditation is a guarantee for success because it inspires us to do God’s word.

Joshua 1:8 Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.

what you meditate on forms your thoughts and your thoughts are the content of your mind. who you are, and where you are is a reflection of your thoughts.

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.

Proverbs 23:7a

Prayer: Lord, help me to know your word and meditate on your word daily.

TRUSTING GOD IN LIFE CHALLENGES.

Life is unpredictable and can pose several outcomes, sometimes good and other times bad, and as we move along the journey of life we are confronted with challenges of varying degree and duration.

Many people only think of God as good when things work out good and consider God as uncaring and unjust when things take a different turn, then they start to waiver in faith.

God’s nature and character are unchanging and God is ever faithful and just to stay true to His promises and we are to stay firm and keep hope in His promises even when things are unsteady, challenging, and uncertain.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.

Proverbs 3: 5-8

The Scripture is very instructive on the distinct ways God can help us, not only in preventing challenging times but also to make us remain steadfast and unshaken when challenges do come and subsequently overcome them.

God demands our faith, He requires that we trust in him with all our heart; to trust is to believe in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of God, we need to believe in His word and it is expected that we do this daily.

After establishing the need to trust God, how exactly can we do that in our everyday life?

  • Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. 1 peter 5:7, because God loves you, you can build your trust in Him by talking about all your feelings and circumstances with Him, the good and hard through prayer. Philippians 4:6-7; do not let your emotion have control of your life, present it to God in prayers He will help you address it.
  • Confront your fears and confess your unbelief; you can tell God how you feel and in what areas of your life you are struggling to trust Him.
  • Delight in His words and meditate upon them day and night. Psalms 1:2; when you trust God, you will go to His words when things get foggy and tough and get the reassurance of His promises.

God is faithful and just, and He will never leave us nor forsake us even in our times of challenges. God is committed to His children and will make all things work for our good.

Prayer: Lord, give me the grace to be steadfast and keep faith even amid the storms.
