Another Jesus

the northern

For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted – you may well put up with it! (2 Corinthians 11:4 NKJV)

Another Jesus is when people preach and teach strange doctrines that are contrary to the word of God. Believers need to learn how to test the spirits and the apostles. Any practice that was not practiced in the early Church by the apostles is a strange doctrine, it is another Spirit and another Jesus different from the Jesus that was preached by the apostles.

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11

I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. Revelations 2:2

We, as believers must constantly search the Scriptures to make sure that what is being preached by our pastors is in line with the Bible. The Berean Christians did it to Paul. The only way to have a thorough knowledge of the Scriptures is by constantly reading the Bible and comparing spirits or doctrines with the Bible.

The source and origin of every doctrine is spiritual. Doctrines come from spirits. Bible doctrine comes from the Holy Spirit while false doctrines come from demons. They are called doctrines of demons by the Bible. Demons will always introduce doctrines that exalt man or created things and scorn or ignore Christ. They never ever glorify Christ.

We must be wise enough to realize that not everyone who claims to be an Apostle or messengers of light is one. We need to guard ourselves against the yeast and teachings of false teachers. Jesus Himself warned us that there will be false prophets and teachers. This wisdom might sound simple but it can be the difference between life and death, heaven and hell.

Meanwhile a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was a learned man, with a thorough knowledge of the Scriptures. Acts 18:24

He had been instructed in the way of the Lord, and he spoke with great fervor and taught about Jesus accurately, though he knew only the baptism of John. He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they invited him to their home and explained to him the way of God more adequately. Acts 18:25

Apollos had accurate and thorough knowledge of the Scriptures. This shows that we can also have thorough knowledge of the Scriptures. When we have a thorough knowledge of the Scriptures, we will be able to defeat errors, lies and the fiery darts of the enemy. We must put truth on our waist. The truth is the whole counsel of the word of God.

May God help us the constantly clothe ourselves with the word of God and defeat false doctrines.

Another well written commentary, but with a problem at the end. It seems that you are equating Apollos with false prophets and teachers whose teachings are death. Perhaps I misunderstand the reason you quote Acts 18:24-25, but the passage itself says that Apollos taught about Jesus accurately. There are other examples of people following Christ but not being baptized by the Spirit. It has nothing to do with false prophets – just not complete knowledge. (See Acts 8:14-16 for one example).

You are quite correct. We need to check all doctrine against the word of God, including the doctrines we have learned up to now and possibly grew up with. Unfortunately, there are many doctrines around, held by many even strong Christians, that do not line up with the word of God. We have to be willing to let God show us even those places where we hold on to a false doctrine or tradition of man that goes against His word. That isn’t easy, but before we point fingers at anyone (which you are not doing – I’m just saying this as emphasis), we need to look at our own beliefs in light of Scripture.

Mostly, always remember the Jesus did not come to condemn the world, but to save the world. If we keep our eyes on him, and remain in his word (as you so well stated), God will show us the doctrines and teachings that do not agree with His word.

Thank you so much for the insightful and informative contribution to this topic. I quoted the Scriptures on Apollos having a thorough knowledge of the Scriptures and then talked about us having a thorough knowledge of Scriptures which is very useful in identifying false teachings and defeating errors.

I have amended that paragraph a bit for better and clearer understanding.

Like you stated, there are many false doctrines around held by many, including strong Christians. In the book of Revelations, Jesus, rebuked the Churches for their false practices and beliefs.

We have to be willing to let God show us those places where we are holding onto false doctrines. May God help us to keep our eyes focused on the word of God and also enable us to identify the false doctrines we are holding on to. Blessings ❤️❤️❤️🙏

  • Another Jesus makes the deceived more susceptible to receive the anitchrist…

Thanks for the insightful response. Yes, the Antichrist will ride on false doctrines and another Jesus, to make the undiscerning accept him.🙏❤️

  • Amen so true, we must be aware of those demons who are disguising themselves as men of God! Blessings and peace to you always in Jesus Mighty Name!

  • Great encouragement this morning! It is super important to study the scriptures daily. Be alert and sober minded for the devil prowls around like a roaring lion. It’s also important not to be to skeptical because skepticism can lead people away from the church. On the other hand it would be smart for a believer to be skeptical of anyone who is teaching another Jesus. Thanks for this word!

Thank you for the wise words. Yes, we need to be alert and sober minded because the devil prowls around like a roaring Lion. If we are not vigilant he can use false teachers to deceive us. ❤️❤️❤️🙏

  • I think you are absolutely right. The scriptures bring to light whatever is hidden and reveal the true nature of not only man but things around us. Many times, we take them for granted when like the Berean Jews we should be searching them diligently.
Keep bringing more such truths to light. Thank You.

  • Regular study of the scriptures is so important. It’s the foundation for getting to know God and developing a strong relationship with him. I recently discovered a free bible study course that provides and in-depth study of the scriptures. It can be found at http://www.JW.org. You can access it by clicking the Pick a Lesson Now link found on the homepage.

Thank you so much, beloved in Christ. Blessings

  • Wow… Yes! I was preaching this on Instagram not two days ago and thought “I hope people get this message and understand it”. It is so true! Satan is not dressed in a goat uniform with a pitchfork scaring people – that’s counter-productive. I believe He is how he is described in 2 Corinthians 11:14 – And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. But even more so, 2 Corinthians 4 highlights your post exactly: The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. We need more people who will preach the Truth about the Gospel. We cannot serve a sugarcoated Gospel that speaks only of acceptance and grace. Satan will pervert that! We cannot preach tolerance to ANY sin, regardless of how it “connects” with God’s Word.

Anyway, those are my two cents haha! Would love for you to check out my page as well! I haven’t written a lot yet, but I’m getting there!

Blessings of our Lord be upon you!

Thank you so much, beloved in Christ, for the very insightful contribution. Exactly, “Satan is not dressed in goat uniform with a pitchfork scaring people.” Satan and his ministers have perfected the art of pretense and disguise. They disguise to pollute the Church with false, sugar coated doctrines that compromise sin and ensure that believers remain babies.

The objective is to steal the flock or make them stunted so that they never arrive at the destination of christian maturity. May we all be careful and vigilant and be led by the Holy spirit and also put on the whole counsel of the word of God so that we will be well equipped to detect the snares of evil one. I will definitely visit your page. Blessings.

  • Yes, speak truth. It is much too easy to be deceived if our eyes are not on Him. Especially in this day and age, as we are approaching the end, it is near and many will be fooled. Many already have been fooled into false doctrine, such as Mormonism, Jehovah Witnesses, etc. Anything that goes against, changes or adds to God’s Word will always be false. Thank you for sharing this
