Sacrifices That Please God According to the Bible (Complete Guide)
Hello, welcome to another message titled “Sacrifices That Please God.”
Today, we will be looking at what the Bible teaches about the kinds of sacrifices that are acceptable to God and those that are not.
Living Stones and Spiritual Sacrifices
1 Peter 2:5 says:
“You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”
From this scripture, we understand that believers are called to offer spiritual sacrifices, not physical or fleshly ones.
God Does Not Desire Wrong Sacrifices
God is not pleased with sacrifices that are not according to His Word.
Jesus Christ has already offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for our salvation. Therefore, we are not called to perform physical or ritual sacrifices for salvation.
Any sacrifice that is outside the will of God, or that promotes sin, idolatry, or spiritual darkness, is not acceptable to Him.
True Worship: Spirit and Truth
God desires worship in spirit and truth.
To worship God in spirit and truth means:
• Living in obedience to God’s Word
• Being led by the Holy Spirit
• Aligning your life with God’s will
The Word of God is the revealed will of God. Therefore, walking in obedience to Scripture is part of true worship.
Sacrifices That Are Acceptable to God
- Sacrifice of Praise and Thanksgiving
Hebrews 13:15 says:
“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.”
Praise and thanksgiving are spiritual sacrifices that please God.
Worship, gratitude, and continual thanksgiving are offerings that God delights in.
- Sacrifice of Doing Good and Sharing
Hebrews 13:16 says:
“Do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”
Doing good, showing kindness, and sharing with others are sacrifices that God accepts.
- Sacrifice of Giving
Philippians 4:18 says:
“They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.”
Giving to support God’s work and helping others is also a form of spiritual sacrifice when done in obedience and love.
- Sacrifice of Obedience
Obedience to God is one of the highest forms of sacrifice.
God is not impressed by rituals but by hearts that obey Him.
When you choose to follow God’s Word instead of your desires, you are offering Him a true sacrifice.
- Living Sacrifice (Renewed Mind)
Romans 12:1–2 says:
“Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”
This does not mean physical destruction of the body. It means:
• Surrendering your life to God
• Renewing your mind
• Rejecting worldly patterns
• Living according to God’s will
True worship begins with a transformed mind.
Renewing the Mind
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind (Romans 12:2).
To please God, your mind must be renewed through His Word.
This helps you:
• Understand God’s will
• Live rightly
• Walk in obedience
• Discern what is good and acceptable
Avoid Willful Sin
Hebrews 10:26 warns:
“If we deliberately keep on sinning after receiving the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left.”
God’s grace is not permission to live in sin. Instead, it calls us to holiness, repentance, and obedience.
True Sacrifice vs False Sacrifice
Not all sacrifices are from God.
False sacrifices may include anything that leads away from God’s truth or promotes:
• Sin
• Idolatry
• Spiritual darkness
• Disobedience
True sacrifices are always aligned with God’s Word.
The Key to Pleasing God
To please God, you must:
• Walk in obedience
• Be led by the Holy Spirit
• Renew your mind daily
• Practice love, kindness, and generosity
• Live a life of worship
This is the true Christian walk.
Final Encouragement
God is not asking for rituals—He is asking for your heart.
When your life is aligned with His Word, everything you do becomes a spiritual sacrifice that pleases Him.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Help us to understand the sacrifices that please You. Teach us to live in obedience, holiness, and love. Renew our minds by Your Word and guide us by Your Holy Spirit. Let our lives become living sacrifices acceptable in Your sight.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Have a blessed day. Remain blessed. Bye.
