Faith Is the Ability to Stand
Faith Is the Ability to Stand
Hello, welcome to another message. Today, I’m going to be talking about a revelation the Lord gave to me just two days ago. What He said to me was:
“Faith is the ability to stand.”
When the Lord said this to me, I began to meditate deeply on it. We may have heard something similar before, but there is a difference between hearing something in passing and truly studying it deeply to understand what God is saying.
If faith is the ability to stand, then it means that in order for you to truly exhibit faith, you must have the ability to remain standing. The moment you give up, you are surrendering your faith. That is why this subject is very important.
Faith Is Not Cheap
Faith is a complex spiritual subject. It is connected to many other spiritual principles in the Bible. Faith is tied to:
- Righteousness
- Patience
- Persistence
- Perseverance
- Prayer
- Obedience
- The Word of God
- Walking with the Holy Spirit
Faith does not work in isolation. It works together with many spiritual realities.
If we study the lives of Abraham, Joseph, David, Job, and the apostles, we will understand that true biblical faith is never cheap.
The Faith of Abraham
The Lord has recently been telling me:
“Study the case of Abraham.”
God promised Abraham a child, yet Abraham waited many years before that promise manifested. God knew Abraham’s pain and desire, yet He still allowed the waiting process.
Why?
Because Abraham’s faith had to be tested.
God wanted to show His power through something that looked physically impossible. Abraham was called to become the father of many nations, so his faith journey was not going to be ordinary.
True faith will always cost you something.
Your faith must be tested and purified like gold.
The Faith of Joseph
Look at the life of Joseph.
God revealed Joseph’s destiny to him early, but the fulfillment of that destiny was not easy. Joseph suffered betrayal, slavery, false accusations, and imprisonment before he eventually reached the palace.
God allowed Joseph to go through difficult experiences because He was building something inside him.
The important lesson is this:
While you are passing through trials, remain steadfast and faithful.
That is the ability to stand.
People Fight Destinies
Throughout Scripture, we see people fighting against destinies.
- Saul fought David
- Herod tried to kill Jesus
- Pharaoh ordered Hebrew baby boys to be killed
- Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery
Sometimes spiritual forces work through human beings to resist destinies.
The enemy may even plant people into your life to delay or destroy your destiny.
That is why discernment is important.
You must hear the voice of God.
You Must Hear the Voice of God
If you are a Christian, especially a minister, you cannot afford to be spiritually blind.
The Bible says:
“As many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”
If you do not hear from the Holy Spirit, you can easily go astray.
God spoke consistently with Abraham. Even when Abraham made mistakes, God corrected him and showed him the true path.
Walking with God protects your destiny.
Sometimes God Answers Immediately — Sometimes He Makes You Wait
Sometimes God answers prayers instantly.
Other times, God allows a waiting season.
That waiting season is often where faith is tested.
This is why patience, perseverance, and persistence are all connected to faith.
If you give up easily, your faith is weak.
Jesus spoke about the persistent widow and connected persistence with faith.
True faith keeps standing.
Be Careful Who You Surround Yourself With
The greater your destiny, the more watchful you must become.
The enemy can plant people around you to delay or hinder your destiny.
The Lord once taught me something powerful. He said:
“Jesus surrounded Himself with people who loved Him and wished Him well.”
Even Jesus had circles:
- The seventy
- The twelve
- The inner three: Peter, James, and John
Not everyone should be your close friend.
Loyalty matters.
Discernment matters.
Some people will smile with you but secretly fight your destiny.
Protect your life.
Protect your calling.
Protect your future.
The Armor of God and Standing
The Bible says in Ephesians 6:
“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”
Notice the emphasis on standing.
The Lord told me:
“Faith is the ability to stand.”
But standing is not passive.
Standing is spiritual warfare.
You stand with the complete armor of God.
The Full Armor of God
1. The Belt of Truth
Truth is the Word of God.
Without truth, deception will destroy you.
The devil even tried to twist Scripture when tempting Jesus, but Jesus defeated him using the Word of God correctly.
You must know the truth for yourself.
2. The Breastplate of Righteousness
You cannot walk in sin and expect spiritual victory.
Righteousness protects your spiritual life.
Love holiness.
Hate sin.
3. The Shield of Faith
Faith extinguishes the fiery arrows of the enemy.
But notice something important:
Faith is only one part of the armor.
You cannot ignore the other spiritual weapons.
4. The Sword of the Spirit
The Word of God is a real spiritual weapon.
Many years ago, I was confessing this Scripture repeatedly for hours:
“At the name of Jesus every knee should bow…”
As I continued confessing the Word deeply and persistently, I entered into a trance and saw golden swords coming out spiritually.
That was when I understood deeply that the Word of God truly is the sword of the Spirit.
The Word of God is powerful.
But you must spend time with it.
Not casually.
Not carelessly.
Deeply.
Persistently.
Prayer Is Part of Standing
The Bible says:
“Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.”
Notice the phrase:
“All kinds of prayers.”
Your prayer life should include:
- Thanksgiving
- Worship
- Praise
- Confession of Scripture
- Petition
- Supplication
- Intercession
Some people only ask God for things but never worship Him.
Others only confess Scripture but never intercede for others.
God wants balance.
Intercede for Others
The apostles constantly prayed for others.
Jesus prayed for others.
Paul asked believers to pray for him.
Do not become selfish in prayer.
Pray for:
- Ministers
- The Church
- The sick
- Souls to be saved
- Your family
- Other believers
Intercession attracts the presence of God.
Persistence Is the Key
Standing means:
- Continuing to pray
- Continuing to believe
- Continuing to worship
- Continuing to confess the Word
- Continuing to obey God
Even when you fall, get back up again.
Children fall many times before learning how to walk properly.
Spiritually, it is the same.
Do not give up.
Keep standing.
Faith Is the Ability to Stand
Faith is not passive.
Faith fights.
Faith perseveres.
Faith remains steadfast.
Faith continues standing until God manifests His promise.
God eventually fulfilled His promises in the lives of:
- Abraham
- Joseph
- David
- Moses
And He will also fulfill His promises concerning your life if you do not give up.
Conclusion
Faith is the ability to stand.
Stand in truth.
Stand in righteousness.
Stand in prayer.
Stand in worship.
Stand in perseverance.
Stand in the Word of God.
Do not give up.
The Lord will manifest Himself in your life.
Prayer
I pray that the Lord Himself will give you the grace to stand.
May He clothe you with the full armor of God.
May the fire of the Holy Spirit rest upon your life.
May the grace of God strengthen you to persevere until victory manifests.
May the Lord establish you in truth, righteousness, and faith.
May great grace be upon you.
In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
Have a blessed day.
