Why God Loves Thanksgiving: Powerful Biblical Truth About Gratitude
Today, I’m going to share a revelation the Lord gave to me concerning thanksgiving.
While I was praying and singing songs to the Lord, making melody in my heart to Him, the Lord suddenly began speaking to me about thanksgiving. Instantly, I shifted my focus completely into thanksgiving and praise.
The Lord said:
- “I love thanksgiving.”
- “Learn to be grateful.”
- “God loves to work in thanksgiving.”
These revelations deeply touched my spirit because they revealed how powerful thanksgiving is in experiencing the presence and glory of God.
Thanksgiving and the Presence of God
Thanksgiving is connected to:
- Seeking the face of God
- Waiting upon the Lord
- Being filled with the Holy Spirit
- Experiencing the glory of God
- Hearing the voice of God
- Walking in spiritual fire and power
There are different levels of glory in the spiritual life.
A believer may be filled with the Holy Spirit and still struggle with certain battles and attacks. But there is a realm of glory where the presence and fire of God become so strong that the enemy finds no opening for affliction.
The Lord once spoke to me and explained that there is a level of glory where a believer walks in spiritual immunity.
This is a realm where:
- The glory of God surrounds you
- The fire of God covers your life
- The enemy struggles to gain access
- The presence of God becomes constant
This was the realm Jesus walked in, and it was also the realm Paul walked in.
Levels of Glory
There is a difference between:
- Being filled with the Holy Spirit
- Being clothed with the glory and power of God
Your inner man may be filled with God’s presence, but your spiritual covering or “aura” may still be weak or vulnerable due to spiritual compromise, carelessness, or pollution.
When there are spiritual cracks through disobedience or carelessness, the enemy finds openings.
That is why believers must remain spiritually alert and continually filled with God’s presence.
Paying the Price for Glory
God desires all His children to walk in greater realms of glory, but not everyone is willing to pay the price.
Jesus said in Revelation:
“Buy from Me white garments…”
The Lord once explained to me that the white garment represents purity and cleansing, but there is also a higher realm of glory represented by gold.
The Lord told me:
“It is the white garment that turns to gold.”
The golden realm of glory represents deeper intimacy, greater power, and stronger manifestations of God’s presence.
This level requires:
- Prayer
- Worship
- Purity
- Obedience
- Consecration
- Intimacy with God
The Secret Place and Prayer
Everything happens in prayer.
Anyone who tells you that spending time with God is unnecessary is misleading you. Through prayer:
- Faith becomes active
- Glory descends
- The Holy Spirit fills you
- Spiritual pollution is removed
- God reveals His voice and direction
The Lord has taught me through experience that there are levels in prayer.
There is a point where I begin hearing God clearly. Then, if I continue pressing deeper in prayer, the glory of God increases strongly and begins cleansing everything around me spiritually.
Any spiritual pollution or darkness begins to dissolve in His presence.
Spiritual Pollution
The Lord has repeatedly taught me to be careful about:
- What I watch
- What I listen to
- The people I associate with
- The environments I allow into my life
A few days ago, I watched a program that initially appeared harmless, but it later became spiritually disturbing and inappropriate.
That night, during prayer, I struggled to feel the presence of God the way I normally do.
Eventually, the Lord revealed to me that the program had introduced spiritual pollution into my life.
The Lord corrected me and said:
“You were careless.”
Even one careless moment can affect spiritual sensitivity.
This is why we must guard our hearts carefully.
Hindrances to God’s Presence
When you are struggling to feel the presence of God, there is often a spiritual hindrance.
Some major hindrances include:
- Wrong entertainment
- Negative company
- Spiritual carelessness
- Anxiety
- Murmuring and complaining
- Lack of thanksgiving
- Fear and worry
- Sin and compromise
These things repel the manifest presence of God.
God Loves Thanksgiving
The Lord specifically emphasized thanksgiving to me.
He said:
“God loves thanksgiving.”
At one point, I had changed the structure of my prayer time and reduced the amount of time I spent in thanksgiving and praise.
Immediately, I noticed a difference in how I experienced God’s presence.
The Lord revealed to me that thanksgiving was a major key in how He manifested Himself to me.
So I returned to spending long periods simply thanking Him.
I thanked Him:
- For salvation
- For the blood of Jesus
- For protection
- For mercy
- For His faithfulness
- For His love
As I returned to thanksgiving, the glory and presence of God began manifesting strongly again.
A Powerful Encounter Through Thanksgiving
Many years ago, while working in a very demanding finance role, I spent about six hours simply thanking the Lord.
I was thanking Him mainly for the blood of Jesus and for saving my life.
After hours of thanksgiving, I closed my eyes briefly and instantly entered into a spiritual encounter.
I saw a cloud in the sky — the cloud of God’s presence.
Suddenly, I found myself inside the cloud, and that cloud became a place. I realized I was in heaven.
I saw Jesus Himself walking toward me. He kissed my right cheek and spoke to me.
That encounter came through deep thanksgiving and gratitude.
Be Grateful
The Lord taught me not to interpret my relationship with Him through difficult circumstances.
Instead, He taught me to remember:
- His mercy
- His protection
- His sacrifice on the cross
- His faithfulness throughout my life
Many things God has protected us from, we do not even know about.
That is why gratitude is important.
The Bible says:
“In everything give thanks.”
Your life does not have to be perfect before you thank God.
Murmuring Repels God’s Presence
Complaining, anxiety, worry, and constant negative thoughts grieve the Spirit of God.
Whenever you focus only on what you lack, you become ungrateful without realizing it.
God listens to our thoughts as well as our words.
That is why we must constantly renew our minds with thanksgiving and praise.
Learn to Hear the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is real.
He wants to:
- Guide you
- Correct you
- Direct your prayer life
- Warn you
- Teach you
- Reveal God’s will to you
If you cannot hear the Holy Spirit, your Christian life will become very difficult.
The Holy Spirit should guide every area of your life.
Walking in Continuous Glory
There is no magic formula with God.
You must:
- Walk in obedience
- Remain spiritually sensitive
- Guard your heart
- Pray consistently
- Practice thanksgiving
- Follow the Holy Spirit daily
As you do this, God will gradually lead you into deeper realms of glory and intimacy.
Closing Prayer
I pray that the Lord reveals His way to you.
May He make His path clear before you.
May He teach you how to experience His glory constantly.
May He fill you afresh with the Holy Spirit.
May great grace rest upon your life.
May the Lord complete you through the blood of Jesus Christ.
May the Lord Himself be the glory and the lifter of your head.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Have a blessed day and remain blessed.
