By Him We Defeat Sin

The Spirit Of The Lord
19: By Him we defeat sin
For if you live according to your human nature, you are going to die; but if by the Spirit you put to death your sinful actions, you will live. Romans 8:13
It is only by the power of the Holy Spirit that we can defeat sin. Sometimes, we actually forget that without Him, we can do nothing and that it is God’s Spirit that gives life, grace and Holiness.
There is a law and a power that is at work in us, making us have the propensity to sin. Man is naturally drawn towards sin as a result of the fallen human nature. However, the grace of God to live above and beyond sin is greater and the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of grace.
May we step aside today and let Him lead us and empower us to live above sin. May He kill the desire and lust for sin in us and wash us from the inside out. May we let Him be the captain of our lives because that is why He is here on earth.

thanks Laura…way to go with this post…I like the analogy the Bible gives us about Adam, that in ‘Adam’ that is the old man we die, but in Christ Jesus we are alive unto God, free to live in obedience to God’s Word which is unchanging. You could say the second man is the best man to follow. The first man was a slave to sin. Because of the second man was made a living spirit, we are the children of the free because we are building our house upon the Rock which cannot be moved by every wind of doctrine and cunning of men.
Thank you so much for the insightful and wise contribution. So true, we died in Adam but are alive in Christ, the second man, and His Spirit gives us life. Lovely words❤️❤️❤️

Thanks Laura! My old man kicks, misleads, and throws tantrums to get his way, but when I let the Spirit lead me into all the Truth as Jesus promised, I see that the old man is lying – parroting the father of lies. I won’t die from denying the old man his way (he is given to an awful lot of hyperbole for a carcass), but live abundantly under grace in deliverance instead!
Thank you so much for this insightful contribution. So true, the old man in us certainly always wants to get his way, but we won’t die by denying him his cravings and desires. If we let the Spirit control us we will be victorious in deliverance. Thanks once again for the lovely response ❤️❤️❤️

25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
