Wisdom Over Wealth

There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.

“The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. Luke 16: 19-23

Wisdom is essential

Wealth is good

But not vital or

Essential

Godly wisdom takes you

To heaven

But wealth cannot take you

To heaven

However

Wealth with godly wisdom

Will take you to heaven

Any wealth or material gain

That corrodes and obstructs

Wisdom is bad for your soul

Because

It will only take you away from heaven

God in His infinite wisdom and sovereignty

Suspends material wealth and gains

In order to save stubborn souls

Wisdom is the principal thing not wealth

Any preacher that contradicts this

Is not from God

Because focus on materiality

Is what destroys souls

And leads them away from God

Our true focus

Must be on wisdom

And holiness

One thing that I know is this:

A man with wisdom is truly blessed spiritually

And that blessing leads to material blessings

But a man with material wealth

Without godly wisdom

Is truly naked and pathetic

And that nakedness

Will eventually lead

To destruction and hell

Consider this:

The rich man

Went to hell regardless

Of His wealth

And Lazarus was saved

Even though he was poor.

Lazarus had wisdom without wealth

And the rich man had wealth

Without wisdom

Wisdom is true wealth

Choose wisdom

And that wisdom

Will never disappoint

You here or in eternity

It will eventually bring wealth

And prosperity

If you chose wealth

Over wisdom

You will eventually

Crash either in this life

Or/and in eternity

May great grace be upon us

In Jesus name

I was reading about this the other night. How hardly do those who have riches enter into the Kingdom of God?

Thank you so much for that beautiful Scripture. Every word of God is powerful and full of wisdom. This Scripture further elucidates what I wrote about. It is still about focus and elevation of wealth and riches over wisdom and holiness. If we carefully study the Scriptures, we will see that God blessed the heroes of the Old Testament and Patriarchs of our faith. Job was blessed again after his fiery test. This means that is is possible to go to heaven with wealth and riches. For that to happen, we must have been purified from the lust of money and seek to please God just like Abraham, David and Job.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33

The rich man that Jesus spoke to was clearly among those who placed riches above wisdom, holiness and pleasing God. That Scripture said that he was very sad because he was rich. Jesus told him to sell all his things and give to the poor then follow him. But he was very sad. A man who is after wisdom and pleasing God will gladly sell all those things and follow God knowing very well that in God, there are blessings in this life and in the after life.

Those who elevate wealth and riches above God and constantly pant after prosperity in place of God will not see the Kingdom of God. They are mammon worshippers.

      Blessings, my friend. 💕🙏❤️

  • so powerful Laura, thank you.

  • The Scriptures can put a bit of a twist into this. ‘1Corinthians 3:18-20 – Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is folly with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their craftiness,” and again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.” ‘ Of course, this refers to the ‘wisdom of the world,” which is far different than the wisdom of God. The wisdom of this world would elevate riches to supreme importance in many cases. The wisdom of God is indeed far above that, as you point out. It is no shame to be considered a fool for Christ’s sake, because it means you have grasped true wisdom. Love your posts even if I don’t always get to say so. Blessings to you and yours always, my sister in Christ.

Amen. Thank you so much for this very informative and insightful contribution. “The wisdom of this world would elevate riches to supreme importance in many cases.” That is so true. The Scripture you mentioned and the explanation further elucidates and clarifies this topic. This response gives so much meaning to the Scripture and topic and gives it an angle that only the grace of God can. God’s grace is at work and the words are truly refreshing and impart grace.

Grace and blessings to you always, beloved in Christ. 🙏❤️👏

  • Wise words!

Wealth may just lead to more greed

    Wisdom to true knowledge

    True knowledge to Heaven

Where monetary wealth has no value

    Whatsoever!

  • This story from Luke always breaks my heart for the lost. There is no turning back from hell, no do-overs. Eternity is final. Let’s reach as many as we can with good news of Jesus Christ!!
