Understand The Fear Of The Lord
Understand The Fear Of The Lord
Hello, welcome to another message titled “Understand The Fear Of The Lord.”
Recently, I made a Facebook prayer post that said:
“May God help you to understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.”
The fear of the Lord is very important, and the knowledge of God is also very important. It is through wisdom, understanding, and the Word of God that a person truly begins to understand the fear of the Lord.
The great men and women of the Bible all had one thing in common: they feared God.
Jesus Himself walked in the fear of the Lord. The Spirit of the fear of the Lord rested upon Him. Jesus lived a blameless and holy life because He completely submitted Himself to the Father.
Jesus said:
“The ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me.”
The fear of the Lord ruled the life of Jesus.
David was called a man after God’s own heart because he feared God. Noah walked with God because he feared God. Abraham obeyed God because he feared God. Moses was called the meekest man on earth because he feared God.
Paul also feared the Lord deeply. He said:
“Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel.”
Paul understood accountability before God. He understood judgment and responsibility.
The fear of the Lord is the understanding that God’s Word is true and that His judgments are real. It is knowing that nobody can break the Word of God and escape the consequences.
God’s laws are spiritual laws. What a person sows, they will reap.
Adam and Eve lost the fear of the Lord when they believed the serpent’s deception. God warned them clearly:
“The day you eat of it you shall surely die.”
But the devil convinced them that judgment would not happen. That same deception is still operating today.
The devil’s greatest weapon is deception.
Jesus said:
“You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
The more truth you have, the more freedom you experience. Jesus Himself is Truth, which is why He walked in complete victory.
The enemy constantly tries to convince people that sin has no consequences, that judgment is not real, and that people can disobey God without consequences.
But God’s Word cannot fail.
The Bible says:
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”
The fear of the Lord teaches believers to flee from evil, resist temptation, and walk carefully before God.
Many people spend too much time fearing the devil instead of fearing God. But Jesus said:
“Fear Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”
God alone is Judge. God alone gives life. God alone has final authority.
The devil only works through deception and lies. He twists minds, distorts truth, and tries to remove the fear of God from people’s hearts.
When the fear of the Lord is absent, people become comfortable with sin, worldliness, immorality, pride, rebellion, and compromise.
But when the fear of the Lord enters a person’s life, they begin to hate evil and love righteousness.
The fear of the Lord is holy. It produces wisdom, purity, obedience, humility, and discernment.
The Bible describes foolishness in Proverbs 9 as a woman calling people into sin and destruction, saying:
“Stolen water is sweet.”
That is how temptation speaks. Sin promises pleasure, but behind it is death and destruction.
Many people secretly practice evil thinking nothing will happen, but Scripture says:
“Her guests are in the depths of hell.”
Sin leads people into spiritual destruction when they refuse correction and truth.
The devil deceives people into believing they are smart while they reject God’s ways. But true wisdom comes from obedience to God.
People who reject the fear of the Lord eventually become blinded spiritually. The more deception controls a person, the harder their heart becomes.
The fear of the Lord protects believers from deception because it teaches them to obey God quickly and take His Word seriously.
When the Holy Spirit speaks, obey quickly.
Many believers struggle because they ignore the voice of God repeatedly until correction comes.
The fear of the Lord teaches us to judge ourselves quickly, repent sincerely, and turn away from sin immediately.
The Bible says:
“Do not give place to the devil.”
The devil only gains access when doors are opened through sin, disobedience, pride, compromise, and unbelief.
Jesus lived in complete surrender to the Father, and believers are called to follow His example.
The Bible says:
“Be holy, for I am holy.”
God desires holiness, purity, obedience, and sincerity from His people.
Perfect love for God drives out fear of the enemy because a heart fully surrendered to God walks in confidence, authority, and truth.
The more the devil has nothing in you, the more authority you carry spiritually.
That is why believers must resist sin, resist deception, and remain rooted in the Word of God.
When you fall, repent quickly. Judge yourself quickly. Do not allow sin to become a lifestyle.
The fear of the Lord is not bondage; it is protection. It keeps believers aligned with truth and keeps them walking in wisdom and victory.
Pray for the Spirit of the fear of the Lord to rest upon your life the same way it rested upon Jesus and the great men and women of the Bible.
May the Spirit of the fear of the Lord rest upon you. May God fill you with wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and discernment.
May the Lord strengthen you to walk in holiness, truth, and obedience.
May He preserve you from deception and establish you in righteousness.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Remain blessed. Have a good day.
