The Key to Growth in Christ

The Key to Growth in Christ

Secret Of Humility

Hello welcome to this Bible study. Today we’re going to be talking about humility.

Humility is a very important key to growth in Christ and to becoming a mature believer. It is a powerful divine secret that many people underestimate. If you want to be victorious, filled with the Holy Spirit, manifest the glory of God, and become what God wants you to be, then humility is indispensable.

If you want to imitate Christ and follow the example of Paul, then you must imitate them in humility. The Apostle Paul said:

“Imitate me, as I imitate Christ.”

To grow into spiritual maturity and into the fullness of Christ, humility must become part of your character. Without humility, there will always be limitations in your spiritual growth. Pride becomes an obstacle to victory, power, wisdom, and the manifestation of God’s glory in your life.

The Word of God is very important because it teaches us how to walk with God properly. So let’s look at some scriptures on humility.

Moses: The Humblest Man on Earth

Numbers 12:3 says:

“Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth.”

Imagine that. Moses was described as the most humble man on earth. No wonder God used him so powerfully. God refined him through many experiences until he became mature and humble.

I remember when I was very young and first read that scripture. It touched me deeply, and I began praying:

“Lord, please make me as meek and humble as Moses.”

God sees the sincerity of the heart. You can also pray and ask God to make you mature in humility.

God Humbles the Proud

2 Samuel 22:28 says:

“You save the humble, but your eyes are on the haughty to bring them low.”

If someone refuses to humble themselves, God knows how to humble them. And when God humbles a person, it is usually through difficult experiences that teach them lessons they refused to learn willingly.

It is far better for us to humble ourselves before the Lord than for God to humble us through painful situations.

Humility Includes Repentance

1 Kings 21:29 says:

“Have you noticed how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Because he has humbled himself, I will not bring this disaster in his day.”

King Ahab had done great evil, yet when judgment was pronounced against him, he humbled himself before God. One major sign of humility is repentance.

Humility means being willing to admit wrong, examine yourself honestly, and seek God sincerely.

Many people blame everyone else for their problems but never look inward. Instead of seeking God, they focus only on witches, enemies, and external forces. But true faith focuses on God.

Yes, spiritual warfare is real, but God is supreme over everything. The Bible says:

“Do not give the devil a foothold.”

So when something is wrong, instead of focusing only on enemies, seek God and ask:

Why was this door opened?
What is God teaching me?
How should I respond?

God is always the answer.

If My People Humble Themselves

2 Chronicles 7:14 says:

“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves and pray and seek my face… then I will hear from heaven.”

Humility positions you to hear from God and receive His help.

There is only one true God. Life comes from Him. When your focus stays on Him instead of fear, your faith becomes stronger.

Pride Leads to Destruction

Proverbs 18:12 says:

“Before destruction a man’s heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor.”

Proud people often lack self-awareness. A wise person understands their limitations and human weakness. Humility comes from self-awareness and dependence on God.

The Bible says honor follows humility.

Humility Brings Blessings

Proverbs 22:4 says:

“Humility and the fear of the Lord bring wealth and honor and life.”

Notice the pattern in scripture. Humility leads to blessing, honor, wisdom, and life.

Many people run after success through worldly means, but God has already shown us the divine principle:

Fear the Lord.
Obey Him.
Walk in humility.

When you submit yourself to God, He rewards you with favor and grace.

Learn From Jesus

Matthew 11:29 says:

“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart.”

Jesus Himself described His heart as humble.

If we truly want to be like Christ, then humility must become part of our lifestyle. Christianity means becoming Christ-like.

Jesus also said:

“When a student is fully trained, he will be like his teacher.”

The life of Christ is our example.

The Greatest in the Kingdom

Matthew 18:4 says:

“Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”

The greatest people in God’s kingdom are humble people.

True greatness in the kingdom does not come from pride, titles, or self-exaltation. It comes from childlike humility and submission to God.

The Pharisee and the Tax Collector

Luke 18:14 says:

“For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

Jesus spoke about the Pharisee who boasted about his good works and the tax collector who cried out:

“God, have mercy on me, a sinner.”

The tax collector pleased God more because he was humble and repentant.

Any good thing we manifest comes from God’s grace. The fruits of the Spirit are produced by the Holy Spirit, not by human strength. So there is nothing to boast about.

Be Humble, Gentle, and Patient

Ephesians 4:2 says:

“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”

Humility affects how we treat people. A humble person is patient, gentle, loving, and merciful toward others.

People are growing at different stages spiritually. We must show grace and love instead of condemnation.

Jesus Was Humble Unto Death

Philippians 2:8 says:

“He humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross.”

Jesus humbled Himself completely in obedience to God.

Humility and obedience always work together.

God Gives Grace to the Humble

James 4:6 says:

“God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”

God resists pride but gives grace to humble people.

If you are humble, you will constantly seek God for help, wisdom, strength, and grace. Proud people depend on themselves, but humble people depend on God.

Humble Yourself Before the Lord

James 4:10 says:

“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.”

This is one of the greatest spiritual principles.

When you humble yourself, God Himself lifts you up. He promotes you, blesses you, expands you, and beautifies your life with His presence.

Put on the Cloak of Humility

1 Peter 5:5 says:

“Clothe yourselves with humility toward one another.”

Humility is something we must intentionally put on.

If humility is difficult for you, keep praying. Ask God for grace. Grow in self-awareness. Submit yourself to God daily and allow Him to refine your character.

Final Encouragement

Humility is one of the greatest virtues because pride was the very thing that caused Satan’s downfall.

When you are humble, you become open to God’s work in your life. God begins to grow His nature in you—love, kindness, patience, gentleness, wisdom, and peace.

The goodness we display is not our own goodness. It is the nature of God flowing through us by grace.

So continue to seek God. Read your Bible daily. Study the life of Jesus. Desire humility. Ask God to make you more like Christ.

Humility is a major key to victory, maturity, sonship, and spiritual authority.

Prayer

I pray that the Lord completes His work in you.
I pray that the grace of God overshadows you.
I pray that you will put on the cloak of humility.
May you be filled with wisdom, mercy, and understanding.
May the favor of God surround you.
May the Lord refine your heart and make you more like Christ.
May peace, grace, and love abound in your life always.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Remain blessed.

May God bless you with true godly love, and plant godly relationships into your life, in Jesus name.

Stop abandoning yourself to keep someone else in your life. That is self hate and self betrayal.

Love your neighbour as yourself but don’t hate yourself and don’t swallow emotional poison because you are desperate to keep someone in your life.

People rarely walk away from what they truly value.

People fight to keep what benefits them.

People make time for what matters to them.

That is why you must stop ignoring actions and start paying attention to patterns.

Words can be manipulated.

Actions reveal priorities.

Never sell yourself low just to be with someone.

Never abandon your dignity to keep a relationship alive.

Never lower your standards because you are afraid of being alone.

A relationship should add value to your life, not strip away your self-respect.

If someone constantly disrespects you, belittles you, ignores you, humiliates you, abuses you, or refuses to value you, stop making excuses for behavior that should not be tolerated.

Self-respect creates boundaries.

Self-value changes behavior.

When you truly value yourself, certain things become unacceptable.

You may feel hurt.

You may feel disappointed.

You may feel emotional attachment.

But healthy self-respect refuses to normalize mistreatment.

One of the greatest mistakes people make is remaining in places where they are constantly dishonored.

People often learn how to treat you by what you repeatedly tolerate.

If you tolerate disrespect, many will continue to disrespect you.

If you tolerate neglect, many will continue to neglect you.

If you tolerate humiliation, many will continue to humiliate you.

Your silence can sometimes become permission.

Know your value.

Know your worth.

Know what you bring to the table.

Stop chasing people who are comfortable losing you.

Stop begging for love, attention, commitment, and respect.

The right people will not need to be forced to value you.

The right people will appreciate your presence.

The right people will respect your boundaries.

The right people will recognize your value.

Do not sacrifice your dignity to keep someone who is determined to treat you like an option.

Some doors should be closed.

Some tables should be left.

Some relationships should be released.

Not because you hate people.

Not because you are proud.

But because you finally understand your value.

Value yourself enough to walk away from places that continually dishonor your worth.

May God perfect all that concerns your relationships and love life and bless you with true godly love from His throne of grace.

May God heal every trauma bond and soul tie chaining you to people that are committed to hurting you and breaking your heart, in Jesus name, amen.

You cannot blame a fornication partner in spiritual crime for enticing you into fornication.

You cannot blame Satan for tempting you to commit fornication.

You are accountable for your will and actions before God.

When the time of judgment comes, it’s purely between you and God.

You will face God alone, and maybe your fornication partner would have moved on with another person.

All that would be left is judgment, and believe me, when judgment comes, you will not even know that it is God’s judgment on the fornication you refused to give up.

You will think it’s witches and demons. You will bind and loose, and nothing will happen.

Repent before the time of judgment comes because the Bible clearly says that God will judge His people!

Hebrews 10:30-31

For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And again, “The LORD will judge His people.” [31] It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Righteousness is spiritual warfare. May God teach your hands to fight and make war, in Jesus name, amen.
