The Interpreter

This word might seem very obvious but it is not obvious to a lot of people. It is only the Holy Spirit that has the ability to adequately interpret the word of God. He is the author of the word of God and only Him can make the word of God make sense and have meaning.

And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. Mathew 16:17

Think about what I am saying. The Lord will help you understand all these things.2 Timothy 2:7

The Holy Spirit is the one that gives knowledge and understanding. Remember that Jesus was filled with grace, truth and wisdom. These only come by divine enablement.

The disciples did not understand any of this. Its meaning was hidden from them, and they did not know what he was talking about. Luke 18:34

The devil hides and steals the word of God and it’s meaning from us and the Holy Spirit reveals the word and it’s meaning to us.

Trying to figure out the word of God with our own flesh and power without depending on the Holy Spirit, meditation and prayer will always lead to errors and false doctrines.

All false doctrines originate from the proud heart of man that has refused to pray for truth. Spiritual truth is not discovered – it is given by God!

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. James 1:5

We need to pray for wisdom and it is only God that gives wisdom by His Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of wisdom.

In summary,

  1. You need to read and hear the word of God
  2. You need to think and meditate on the word that you have read and heard.
  3. You need to pray to God for the Spirit of wisdom, revelation and understanding in the knowledge of Him and His word.
  4. The Lord will then give you the ability to understand by His Holy Spirit.
