Draw Near

Draw Near

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. (James 4:8 NKJV)

Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. (James 4:9 NKJV)

When we draw near to God, He draws near to us. God wants us to cleanse our hands and purify our hearts. We can see from the above Scripture, that relationship with God is not as easy as some want it to be. Some people will tell you that if you just confess positively, all will be well with you, but the word of God is not a mantra or an incantation and it should not be used as such.

The word of God must be gloried and respected the way it is. We should not add to it and we must not subtract from it. You must confess and obey, not just confess. We need to maintain close relationship and fellowship with God. Jesus did and Paul did. Anyone that is living a careless disobedient life who expects to confess and decree and move mountains should re-examine himself. Power without purity and holiness is great deception.

We need to draw near to God so that God Himself will draw near to us. May great grace be upon us in Jesus name.

He Listens

We know that God does not listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does his will, God listens to him. (John 9:31 ESV)

God listens to prayers and hears them but it is conditional. Anyone who decides to love evil and harm others should not expect mercy from God – He will not be fooled or mocked. Mercy triumphs over judgement but judgement without mercy will be given to the haters of God and man. We are free but we are not free to hurt and harm others. Hurting others is detestable and despicable in the eyes of God.

If we desire good, let us be good. Anyone who desires evil, death and judgement should keep on hating, harming and terrorizing others but there is a day of reckoning. There is a day of accountability and Christians are not exempt.

A Christian will be saved and go to heaven but he will experience chastening and judgement on earth if he goes astray. Let all who call the name of the Lord depart from evil. Judgement begins in the house of God, so we should not remain in sin just because God is merciful. Any believer with that kind of mentality does not fully know, love or respect his Heavenly Father.

For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives. ” It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? (Hebrews 12:6 – 12:7 ESV)

If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness. For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it (Hebrews 12:8- 12:11 ESV)

Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent. (Revelation 3:19 ESV)

You are to deliver this man to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord. (1 Corinthians 5:5 ESV)

I believe that the Scriptures above will convince us to stop being nonchalant about sin. May great grace be upon us in Jesus name.

Weak Love

Weak Love

Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered. (1 Peter 3:7 NKJV)

Sometimes, we forget that sin hinders prayers. We simply love to live our lives anyhow we like and presume that it is okay. However, it is not okay to walk outside the laws and precepts of Christ.

There is a new law and a new covenant sealed with the precious blood of Christ. That law is the law of the covenant that we have been commanded to obey.

When husbands refuse to treat their wives with honor and understanding as the weaker vessel, that very act of reduced love and weak understanding will hinder their prayers. So says the word of God.

On a general note, we need to live our lives in love and understanding towards one another so that our prayers will not be hindered.

May great grace be upon us in Jesus name.

A Beautiful Wife

A Beautiful Wife

Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives, when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear (1 Peter 3:1 – 3:2 NKJV)

Godly conduct will always attract and win souls to Christ. It is imperative that we understand this. Faith without works is dead.

This Scripture instructs wives to submit to their husbands even if the husbands do not obey the word. Submission is so beautiful and lovely and can sometimes be a key to maintaining a godly home. Where there is disorder and chaos, there will be confusion and no peace. Wives are hereby counseled by the word of God be to submissive and chaste.

May great grace be upon us in Jesus name.

Indestructible!

Indestructible!

And behold, I am coming soon. Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book. ” (Revelation 22:7 ESV)

There is true blessing from keeping the word of God and keeping the words of prophesy. Most of the time, people use the word blessing very loosely. A lot of people think that the word, blessing can be used the same way that magic is used. Magic requires no moral principles or conscience and can be activated magically, by wishing, incantations and casting spells on people. Magic will always require human blood as a foundation. Anyone can obtain spiritual favors by magic which involves demon and idol worship. It’s only cost is perversion and human blood. Ultimately it leads to hell and sorrow.

Conversely, true blessings come from God and they come by believing and keeping the word of God. The blessings of the Lord makes rich and adds no sorrow. Sometimes, it will take a long time to come because God is more interested in our souls prospering and maturing. Pagans and false preachers emphasize and focus on material blessings while true ministers focus on spiritual growth and heaven. They teach people to seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness first, knowing that the word of God cannot be broken. If we seek God’s Kingdom and His righteous first, all other things will be added to us according to God’s will not our will.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4:16

A true believer should not envy or admire the wealth and prosperity of idol worshipers and people who do not know God. Regardless of how much trials we face, we should keep loving God and trusting Him even as we patiently wait for our deliverance from heaven. Our home is beyond the sky and this should be our constant consolation. We are commanded to rejoice because are names are written in Heaven.

Even if our bodies and material blessings are being destroyed, our spirits can never be destroyed. We are spiritually indestructible! God is the only one who can destroy body and soul in hell and our spirits are safe with Him. If God be for us who can be against us? God can mold us and correct us which involves pain but we are always safe and secure in Him. Glory to God! We are redeemed.

He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.” Luke 11:28

May God give us the grace to love His words and will and keep it. May great grace be upon us in Jesus name.

Perfecting Holiness

Perfecting Holiness

Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. (2 Corinthians 7_1 NKJV)

Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. (2 Corinthians 7:1 NKJV)

God wants us to perfect holiness in the fear of God. A lot of people think that it is not possible to perfect holiness but it is. If the Bible demands it then it is possible.

To perfect holiness does not mean that we will be as perfect as God. It means that we can walk in an acceptable level of holiness which is known as Christian maturity. It means that we constantly desire to please God always. Even when we make mistakes, we quickly correct ourselves and continue hungering and thirsting after righteousness.

The truth is that when the hunger for righteousness is there, the grace will be available. Those who are spiritually mature put God first in everything, they put other men second and put themselves last. They serve others in love instead of wanting to be served and worshipped. It is what you want that you will get. If you are a minister and you want to be worshipped, you will attract worship and at the end of the day you only have yourself to blame because you could have disciplined the human nature in you by the power of the Holy Spirit. However, you loved the pleasure of sin better than Christ.

Paul and Moses were mature in their walks with God. They put God first in everything. Jesus Himself was mature and perfect and demanded that we should be like Him. He came in the flesh to prove to us that someone putting on flesh can be perfect.

Jesus instructed us to imitate Him but a lot of people will still grumble and say that Jesus is God, so His divinity enabled Him when He was on earth. That way, they convince themselves that it is impossible and get discouraged. They cleverly forget that Jesus came in the flesh and was tempted just like us. He struggled and fought. Those who choose to think that way, think that they are clever, but that is not the godly kind of cleverness.

Paul was focused and He kept imitating Christ. He said, “imitate me as I imitate Christ.” For me, I try to imitate Christ but if you are more comfortable with imitating Paul, that is fine. Paul is a great Christian role model.

As we desire to imitate Christ and keep imitating Him, God will keep supplying more grace. May great grace be upon us in Jesus name.

A Little Kindness

A Little Kindness

A little kindness can go a long way to revive a bleeding soul.

Give me kindness any day over money. Kindness uplifts and gives happiness but money can’t buy you happiness.

Kindness cannot be misunderstood, it is simply kindness.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8

Many years ago I made up my mind to pray to God for kindness from people and to always ask for God’s kindness to come upon my life. I constantly say to the Lord, “ Lord I need to experience your kindness constantly in my life.” A lot of people had been very unkind to me and I just got to a place where I knew I had to pray for kindness.

Kindness is a component of love, and love without kindness, is no love at all. People misuse the word love and sometimes lust can be mistaken for love but when you drill deeper and think about loving kindness or kindness, love becomes clearer. Kindness cannot be misunderstood, it is simply kindness.

A lot of people have suffered abuse, violence and trauma. Believe me, these did not come from kindness but from cruelty and wickedness. Kindness gives emotional comfort, support, relief and healing. When you see people that have been battered by life, offer kindness. It is only kindness that will heal, uplift, renew and revive a discouraged, hopeless person.

May we not deny each other kindness because kindness is a function of love and for love, we were created. A little kindness can go a long way to revive a bleeding soul.

All Grace

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. (2 Corinthians 9:8 ESV)

How many times do we pray to God, for Him to make all grace abound to us? I love praying for all grace, and the reason is because I know that every ability in this life comes through God’s grace. It is all grace that will make us abound in every good work.

May we go on from the foundational teachings of faith and repentance from dead works, and move on towards all grace and every good work. May great grace be upon us in Jesus name.

Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. (1 Peter 4:8 ESV)

We have not yet realized the power and reality of love. Faith started our Christian journey but love finishes, perfects and refines our journey. Love expresses and completes what faith started. If we say that we have faith and refuse to love others, we are simply unserious jokers. Love partners with faith to make us beautiful before God.

We are instructed in this Scripture, to love one another earnestly. This should be our quest as Christians.
