Live Above The Deceitfulness and Pleasures of Sin
Sin is very deceitful and can seem like the right way. It can feel good and give pleasure, but at the end brings great destruction to the lover of sin.
Proverbs 14:12
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Example
- David. When David was looking at Bathsheba, another man’s wife, it gave him pleasure but it was a pleasure that had been poisoned by death but at that point in time, He did not care. Emotion had taken over the voice of reason. Immediately he saw her bathing, and unclothed, he should have torn his eyes away because she was married. Also, she was not his wife. God does not want us to entertain ungodly desires and cravings. No, need to admire and lust after a married woman or someone that we are not married to. Emotion overpowered David. Later, he took the pleasure to another level and committed adultery. Remember that Jesus said
But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Matthew 5:28
God later passed judgement on David, and death came to his doorstep. Wining and dining with sin, is sleeping with death and fellowship with the grave.
- Samson. Samson had a great destiny and anointing from birth, but he lost focus. He fell in love and lost his senses, and emotion overpowered logic, reason and God’s will. Never lose focus.
Lesson to learn
The devils tries to derail us and our destinies by introducing ungodly pleasures that can seem irresistible. If we are focused and determined to love God at all cost, we will overcome harsh temptations and fulfil destiny.
Jesus was tempted. There were so many things around Jesus that could have enticed Him and derailed Him if He was not focused. He set His heart on loving God and experiencing God’s glory and anointing daily.
The anointing is not cheap, and we must pay the price. The anointing is not for those who fall in love foolishly and indiscriminately without caution. Most of the time, what people call falling in love is falling in lust for a season and later when the so-called love clears from their eyes, they end up hating each other with passion. This proves that it was never falling in love, but emotionalism and sacrificing logic, clear thoughts and reason.
The only reasonable love is falling in love with your wife or husband. But try to make sure that that wife is God ordained. Some people have married other peoples spouses and ended up in divorce and great sorrow. Some even lost their lives. People have married their enemies.
The goal of our Christian experience is to live in God’s perfect will, and experience His glory, daily. For us to achieve this, we need to overcome temptations and distractions. Some men and women have been, and will still be introduced into your life to tempt you, derail you and hijack your destiny.
Determine now, to overcome and pray to God that your faith will not fail you. Also pray that not to be led into temptation. Reject the pleasures of sin and realise that they are deceptions from the Devil to make you fall.
Delilah was a deception and a trap. She did not love Samson, but Samson was blinded by emotionalism and blind love. Blind love is a deception, and the will of God is the truth. The Lord spoke to me some days and said to me, “focus on commitment and not emotions. If you listen to your emotions they will overpower your commitment.” Do not let emotions and illogical tendencies kill you or your destiny, You have no business falling in love, just for the sake of falling in love or falling in love to commit sin.
Fall in love with God’s will, and within God’s will, you will find your God ordained spouse that God prepared for you to help you fulfil destiny. In God’s perfect will, you will not find a Delilah that will sell you, betray you and kill you.
Reject ungodly pleasures and the pleasures of sin and embrace the perfect will of God.
