How to Be Filled With the Holy Spirit

Hello, welcome to this message. Today, I’m going to be talking about how to be filled with the Holy Spirit because someone sent me a message and asked me about it. I realized I didn’t really go deep into it in my previous video, so I decided to break it down step by step.

The primary way to be filled with the Holy Spirit is to wait upon the Lord. That is the foundation. Prayer is the foundation. There is no shortcut around it. Everything else is built upon spending time with God.

I remember many years ago when the Lord was teaching me step by step about walking with Him. The Lord spoke to me and said:

“Child, you need to spend time with Me.”

Then He also said:

“Child, give Me your heart.”

At that time, I was entertaining many teachings and doctrines that became hindrances to my spiritual growth. One major hindrance was focusing too much on positive confession and worldly interpretations of faith instead of truly seeking God.

When your focus becomes only material blessings, declarations, and formulas, you can unknowingly drift away from genuine fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

My Early Walk With God

When I first gave my life to Christ, I was deeply in love with Jesus. I constantly thought about Him. I read hymn books, meditated on Scripture, prayed, and communicated with Him throughout the day. My heart was fully focused on Christ.

I didn’t even realize then that I was fellowshipping with the Lord. I was simply loving Him sincerely.

As time went on, distractions came. Responsibilities increased. My attention became divided, and I noticed I was no longer experiencing God’s presence the same way I once did.

One day, I complained to the Lord and asked:

“Lord, why are You running away from me?”

The Lord answered me clearly:

“I am not the one running away from you. You are the one running away from Me.”

That correction changed my life.

I realized that I had stopped spending quality time with Him. I had allowed other things to take His place in my heart.

Spend Time in God’s Presence

If you want to be filled with the Holy Spirit, you must spend time in God’s presence consistently.

Every time I neglected fellowship with God, I felt empty spiritually. The fruits of the Spirit were no longer flowing the same way. I would notice a lack of peace, joy, and spiritual strength.

The presence of God is not something you maintain casually. You must seek Him daily.

The Lord once instructed me to spend long hours in His presence. That specific instruction was personal to my calling and journey, so I am not saying everyone must do exactly the same thing.

What matters is that you develop a consistent lifestyle of fellowship with God.

What Fellowship Looks Like

Spending time with God can include prayer, worship, reading the Bible, thanksgiving, meditating on Scripture, singing spiritual songs, listening to praise and worship, speaking to the Lord personally, interceding for others, and quietly waiting upon God.

You must learn to communicate with God sincerely from your heart.

Sometimes during worship, I would simply tell the Lord:

“Thank You for dying for me.”
“I love You.”
“Thank You for Your mercy.”
“Fill me with Your Holy Spirit.”

That sincere communion matters deeply.

You Must Ask

One thing the Lord taught me is this: you must ask Him to fill you.

Do not assume it automatically.

Jesus said to ask, seek, and knock. You must humbly desire the presence of God and ask Him sincerely to fill you afresh every day.

Your hunger for God matters.

Being Filled With the Word of God

You cannot be filled with the Holy Spirit while neglecting the Word of God.

The Holy Spirit and the Word of God work together.

The Bible says:

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.”

You need Scripture in your heart. You need truth in your mind. The Holy Spirit will always lead you deeper into God’s Word.

Spend time reading the Bible daily.

Meditate on the promises of God.

Fill your mind with truth instead of fear, confusion, or worldly distractions.

Keep Away From Sin

Sin weakens spiritual sensitivity.

No one becomes perfect instantly, but you must sincerely desire holiness and obedience to God.

Ask the Lord to purify your heart. Avoid things that pollute your spirit, mind, and conscience.

The more yielded you are to God, the more freely the Holy Spirit moves in your life.

Persistence Matters

Being filled with the Holy Spirit is not a one-time experience.

It is daily.

You must continue seeking God consistently.

There are seasons when life becomes busy, but never become too busy for God. Learn how to create time for His presence even in the middle of responsibilities.

Sometimes during the day, I pause to worship, pray quietly, or meditate on Scripture before returning to my work. Then later at night, I spend more time in prayer and worship again.

Consistency matters.

The Presence of God Brings Victory

The presence of God strengthens you spiritually.

When you are filled with the Holy Spirit, you experience peace, gain spiritual strength, become spiritually sensitive, grow stronger in faith, overcome fear, and walk in spiritual victory.

The Holy Spirit empowers believers.

You are not meant to fight spiritual battles in your own strength. You need the power and presence of God.

The Bible says:

“Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord.”

Focus on God, Not Fear

Do not focus constantly on the enemy, fear, or darkness.

Focus on Christ.

Focus on His victory.

Focus on His power.

The more your attention remains on God, the stronger your faith becomes.

Just as God’s presence went with the Israelites in the wilderness, God’s presence will also guide, strengthen, and protect you as you walk with Him.

Final Encouragement

If you truly desire to be filled with the Holy Spirit, spend time with God daily, read the Bible consistently, worship sincerely, pray persistently, ask the Lord to fill you, keep your heart focused on Christ, walk in obedience, and remain spiritually hungry.

The Holy Spirit is not far away. God desires fellowship with you more than you realize.

Draw near to Him sincerely, and He will draw near to you.

Prayer

Father, I pray for everyone reading this message today. I pray that Your Holy Spirit fills them afresh. Let Your presence surround them. Give them spiritual hunger, wisdom, strength, peace, and understanding.

Teach them how to walk closely with You. Let Your glory rest upon their lives. Strengthen them in every battle and lead them deeper into fellowship with You.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

Remain blessed and have a wonderful day.

May God bless you with godly destiny relationships, in Jesus name, amen.

DO THEY LOVE YOU—OR DO THEY JUST NEED YOU?

Does someone truly love you if they are with you because they depend on you and need you?

Or do they simply love what you provide?

Those are two very different questions.

How do you know when someone truly loves you—and when you are simply needed, useful, or convenient?

The answer is deeper than most people think.

Love chooses. Dependency needs.

Love values the person. Dependency values the benefit.

Biblical love seeks the good of the other person.

Jesus loved people who could give Him nothing.

Loyalty reveals genuine love.

Mutual dependence is healthy. Codependence is not.

How do you recognize genuine love?

Develop a Deeper Passion for God’s Presence

May God fill you with a deeper passion for His presence.

May the Holy Spirit give you an unquenchable hunger for God.

May God make you a yielded vessel for His glory.

May God fill your cup until it overflows with His presence and power, in Jesus name.

The Holy Spirit wants passion. He wants love. We were created by love and for love. Your heart was created to be filled with the love of God. God’s presence and fire is His love.

God is looking for passionate believers whose greatest pursuit is His presence. God is looking for fervent, passionate lovers of God like Jesus and David.

Become a yielded vessel. Become a man or woman after God’s heart.

Nothing satisfies the human heart like the presence of God. Only the presence of God can make you truly happy and be filled with all the fruits of the Holy Spirit. You can’t live without God and His presence. You cannot be truly happy and fruitful without the presence and fire of God.

God delights in filling hungry hearts with His glory and presence. He wants hunger and passion.

May your heart continually burn with love for Jesus, and may God’s presence become your greatest delight all the days of your life. #prayers

Stop asking, “Do I love them?” Start asking, “Are they God’s perfect will for my life?”

Samson loved Delilah, but Delilah was not God’s perfect will for Samson.

Emotions can be very deceptive, and emotions can die, but a heart dedicated to God’s will sticks by you like that friend that sticks closer than a brother and that brother that is born for adversity.

Find out from the Holy Spirit if they are part of God’s plan and purpose for your life. Be purpose driven. Jesus and Paul were purpose driven.

When you become passionate about your destiny and purpose and making sure you are surrounded by your destiny partners like Jonathan, the apostles, and Joseph the husband of Mary, your relationships become very sweet. They glorify the Lord and please the Holy Spirit.

May God visit you mightily and plant your God ordained destiny relationships and spouses into your life, in Jesus name, amen.
