Hidden Sins and Unanswered Prayers
[Music]
Hello, welcome to today’s message. Today, I’m going to be sharing a revelation that I received from the Lord some years ago while I was writing a post titled “11 Principles for Waiting Upon the Lord.”
In that revelation, the Lord said to me:
“There are many sick people in the hospital who have faith. They have faith, but they are still in the hospital.”
Then I asked the Lord, “What is it, Lord?”
And He said:
“Unconscious sins.”
That is what we are going to be discussing today. The Bible refers to them as hidden sins, secret faults, or sins we are unaware of. Unintentional sin is also a form of unconscious sin.
Genesis 20:3–6 talks about Abimelech, Abraham, and Sarah.
God appeared to Abimelech in a dream and warned him because he had taken Sarah, not knowing she was Abraham’s wife. Abraham and Sarah had both told him that they were brother and sister.
Abimelech acted in innocence, yet judgment would still have come upon him if God had not intervened. The Lord prevented him from touching Sarah and then warned him through a dream.
This teaches us something important.
Many people are not spiritually sensitive. Many people do not hear the voice of God or receive direction from the Holy Spirit. If someone is spiritually asleep and hidden sin enters into their life unknowingly, how will they know?
That is why sensitivity to the Holy Spirit is important.
Abimelech was preserved because:
God stopped him before he sinned further.
God spoke to him and warned him.
Without the leading of the Holy Spirit, many people can fall into hidden sins without realizing it.
That is why the Bible says:
“Those who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God.”
You need both:
The written Word of God.
The leading of the Holy Spirit.
Both work together to bring victory.
Psalm 19:12 says:
“Who can discern his errors? Forgive my hidden faults.”
Different translations describe these hidden faults as:
Secret sins
Unintentional sins
Sins we are unaware of
This is why we must constantly pray for God to reveal hidden sins to us.
Sometimes people are under spiritual hindrances and do not even know it. They are praying, fasting, and believing, yet something hidden is standing in the way.
God alone is Judge and Lawgiver. He alone can save and deliver.
The focus of a believer should always be on Jesus Christ, not on fear of demons or witches. Jesus is Lord. He is supreme over all things.
There are many obstacles to answered prayers, including:
Hidden sins
Unconfessed sins
Weak faith
Unforgiveness
Lack of persistence
Lack of prayer and fasting
Lack of understanding
Not treating others rightly
Not spending enough time in God’s presence
Many people simplify everything and say:
“The problem is just lack of faith.”
But that is not always true.
Faith is important, but it is not the only issue. Sometimes there are deeper spiritual obstacles that only the Holy Spirit can reveal.
That is why you must seek God personally and ask Him:
“Lord, what is hindering my prayers?”
“Reveal hidden sins to me.”
“Show me what I need to correct.”
The Holy Spirit is the One who reveals truth and initiates true deliverance.
Deliverance is not just about repeating words or formulas. The Holy Spirit leads people into freedom step by step.
Some people face deeper battles because of their foundations, family history, or ancestral practices. But regardless of how the problem began, Jesus Christ is still the solution.
When you come to Christ, you receive a new foundation through His blood.
Do not focus on blaming people endlessly. Focus on seeking God and allowing Him to lead you into victory.
Some believers blame every unanswered prayer on weak faith, yet they never seek God to discover whether another obstacle exists.
That is dangerous because many people remain stuck while assuming they already know the answer.
The Holy Spirit must guide you.
If things continue getting worse despite your prayers, do not just assume. Seek God deeply. Ask Him to reveal hidden sins, hidden hindrances, and areas that need repentance or correction.
The Christian life is not meant to be lived independently from the Holy Spirit.
You must:
Walk in the Spirit.
Hear God’s voice.
Study the Word.
Pray consistently.
Grow spiritually.
The New Testament teaches believers to mature spiritually and become sons led by the Spirit of God.
You cannot depend completely on prophets or other people to hear from God for you. The Holy Spirit lives inside believers.
God wants His children to know Him personally.
Sometimes victory is gradual. God may teach you through the process and strengthen you spiritually while bringing deliverance.
But as you continue walking with Him, you should see growth, progress, healing, wisdom, and spiritual maturity.
Do not give up.
Continue seeking God diligently because He rewards those who seek Him sincerely.
I pray that the Lord Himself visits you.
May God shower His grace upon you.
May the Lord reveal every hidden sin and every hidden obstacle standing against your prayers.
May the Holy Spirit guide you into truth and wisdom.
May God fill you with revelation, understanding, and spiritual sensitivity.
May the Lord surround you as the mountains surround Jerusalem.
May He encamp around you and deliver you.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
