He Must Increase

This verse holds a great key

To victory in Christ.

For Christ to increase in us

And for us to decrease

Means that the word of God

Must constantly grow and increase

In us.

For Him to increase

Means that we reject every thought

Or idea that contradicts

The word of God,

And exalt the word of God alone.

If God says we are forgiven and

Our punishments are canceled,

We accept this like children

And thank Him.

If God says

Making images for prayer,

Is idol worship,

We accept this word like

Little children and obey it.

If God says that He does not

Live in temples made by human hands,

We reject so called holy or anointed oil,

Salt, water, alters, handkerchiefs

And other physical materials that take the place

God and prevent us from

Seeking the face of God

For His glory to descend.

We accept that the God

Who made heaven and earth

Cannot be locked

Up in a bottle of oil, water etc

To be controlled and released at will.

“However, the Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says: (Acts 7:48 NKJV)

‘Heaven is My throne,

And earth is My footstool.

What house will you build for Me? says the LORD,

Or what is the place of My rest? Has My hand not made all these things?‘

“You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you (Acts 7:49 – 7:51 NKJV)

To reject the word of God

Is to resist the Holy Spirit.

It means that we despise Christ,

Profane the blood of Jesus,

And resist the Spirit of Grace.

For Him to increase means

Absolute humility,

As we constantly agree

With His truth – the word of God.

For us to decrease,

Means that every thought or idea,

In us that opposes and contradicts

The word of God

Must be rejected

So that they do not act as weeds

That choke the word of God

To death like in the

Parable of the sower.

As we exalt the word of God,

Abide in Him,

And allow the Holy Spirit

To control us and direct our lives,

Christ will produce

More and more fruits

Through us – His branches.

The more of Him in us

Is the less of self.

As He grows in us,

Through the word of God

Dwelling richly in us,

Our own contradictory ideologies,

Beliefs, doubts, dreams and desires

Will gradually give way

To Him and His word alone.

The more we die to self,

Through growth in the word of God,

The more His presence is released

Upon us.

Then we can truly

Know that the Christ that is in us,

Is the hope of glory

Through experiential knowledge

Of Him.

When we die to self,

Through His word dwelling fully in us

Meaning absolute surrender

To His word,

The power of Christ

Will rest upon us.
