8. He Gives Warnings
I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit has warned me that prison and troubles wait for me. Acts 20:23
There we found some believers and stayed with them a week. By the power of the Spirit they told Paul not to go to Jerusalem. Acts 21:4
The Holy Spirit gives warnings. He warns you of actions that can harm your life, health and future. Because He knows the outcome of every decision we take, He warns us when we are about to take wrong and dangerous decisions. He warns us when we are about to travel to the wrong city for ministry, Job or business. He warns us when we are about to marry the wrong person. He warns us when we are about to enter the wrong religious organisation.
Because the Holy Spirit warns us of taking actions and decisions that can be dangerous to us, we must form the habit of listening to His instructions and paying attention to His warnings. We must see to it that we obey those warnings because if we don’t, the consequence can be grievous.
There was a time the Holy Spirit warned me not to travel to a certain city in the north of England. I ignored the warning and went there. The outcome was very traumatic for me. Also, when I was very young, I wanted to be a Nun. I found a group that was about to admit me and other girls into their society to become reverend sisters. After passing several stages, we got to the final stage where we would travel to a different country to be admitted into the convent.
I was lying down on my bed one day, when the Holy Spirit said to me three time, ‘do not go any further, you are entering into a cult! Do not go any further, you are entering into a cult! do not go any further, you are entering into a cult!’ I was rattled to my bones and called the group to tell them I was discontinuing with the journey into reverend sisterhood. All the other girls eventually became reverend sisters. The Lord eventually explained to me that I was called to be an evangelist not a priestess.
You can see how wonderful it is that the Holy Spirit gives warnings. His warning saved me from a life that was not my calling and destiny. I pray that we will all hear His warnings when He speaks, to avoid grievous and uncomfortable mistakes.

If only we can learn to not only listen, but obey the voice of the Holy Spirit, we will save ourselves from so much pain, disappointment and sorrow.

Great Testimony! It’s funny, we were playing a game at work for one of our co-workers birthdays and the game was two truths and a lie. One of my truths was “I always wanted to be a Nun!, I really did. Yes, if we learn to listen to the Holy Spirit – he’ll lead and guide us in the right way all the time.

It is imperative to follow the instructions we get from the Holy Spirit, no matter how outlandish or how unusual it may sound. I have been given instructions to take giant steps in my life, this year, and that I will be given the means to take them. Have faith in the Spirit Guides and in the Lord, God.

I struggled with this in the past but I have realized the importance of following the instructions and obeying them. Who knew where does his destiny is leading him? Accepting that he can’t change the past is the only motivation he has to keep moving forward. After all these years of happiness and disappointments, he has one thing constant. One thing that he always tried to change but it remains intact and that only thing is the ‘way he feels for her’. Loving her hurts him a lot but everything he can do is keep moving.
