Forget The Past, Plan Your Future

It is not possible to obtain victory if you constantly dwell on thoughts that remind you of your past. Stop crying and living in sorrow over your past.
The past is only good for one thing – learning from our mistakes to avoid future mistakes. There is nothing anyone can do to reverse or change the past. The past is simply a dead record. It is no longer important, however, the future is very important. We must be solutions oriented and not backwards looking. We need to focus on how to solve our problems and come out of any pit we find ourselves in, instead of how we got into the pit or who pushed us into the pit.
I know it is possible to say “oh but you don’t know how bad my past was. I even had an affair with my father!” The truth is that there is nothing anyone can do to change that particular event. Therefore the only option and weapon available to man is to forget the past. God Himself has forgotten our past, He is not counting our sins and mistakes against us.
For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds will remember no more. – Hebrews 8:12
Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from a guilty conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. – Hebrews 10:22
Dwelling on dead thoughts produces sadness and guilty conscience which is totally unhealthy to the mind and emotions. After turning away from your sins and confessing them to God, allow that sin to be consumed by the blood of Jesus. There is no need to allow the devil to refresh your errors and play tricks with your mind. The devil can even go further in his lies by playing negative videos and planting false pictures in your mind to convince you that your sins are not forgiven. We must dwell on the word of God which says that we are healed and forgiven. We must also rejoice in the Lord and celebrate Him always. God is not counting our sins against us and has called us blessed.
Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; 8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord shall not impute sin. – Romans 4:7-8
He is the God that declares the guilty innocent and it is finished. The past is dead, forget it and partner with God in planning and creating a great future for yourself and the world.
