Faith And Power

“But we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” (Acts 6:4 NKJV)

And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people (Acts 6:8 NKJV)

Stephen was full of faith and power. Note that the Bible separates faith and power as two different things. Faith is not power and power is not faith. However there is a link. There is a third component of these variables known as prayer.

Faith is of the soul and it is given by God through the word of God. Power is a spiritual substance which God decorates His vessels of honor with. We put on faith when we go into prayer to seek God’s face and power. Power is released as the ultimate gift from heaven, however, faith and prayer must precede power. There is no short cut to the power of the Holy Spirit. Prayer should be fervent and effectual accompanied by righteousness, persistence and patience.

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James 5:16

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. Luke 18:1

We are to approach God’s throne with faith and confidence in the place of prayer, putting on the complete armor of God. If we are persistent and we do not give up, God will defeat all our enemies and anoint us with the Holy Spirit and power.
