Cowardice Is Evil — Embrace Boldness in Christ
Hello and welcome to today’s broadcast. Today we are going to be looking at a topic that may seem unusual, but it is extremely important because it can greatly affect your life and destiny. That topic is cowardice.
Cowardice is evil.
We are going to examine what the Bible says about cowardice, why God takes it seriously, and how fear and timidity can destroy a person’s purpose if left unchecked.
Our main scripture is Revelation 21:8:
“But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
Notice that the cowardly are listed among those who face judgment. This shows us that cowardice is not something small in the sight of God.
Why Is Cowardice Dangerous?
Some people may ask, “How can cowardice be evil? Isn’t the person just afraid?”
But cowardice does much more than make a person afraid. Cowardice cripples people. It cages them mentally and spiritually. It keeps them from fulfilling their destiny and obeying God.
Fear can become a prison.
A cowardly person may never step into purpose because fear constantly tells them:
“You will fail.”
“People will mock you.”
“Something bad will happen.”
“Don’t try again.”
“Don’t move forward.”
Cowardice keeps people trapped.
Many people never achieve what God called them to do because fear controls their decisions.
God Did Not Give Us the Spirit of Fear
The Bible says:
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” — 2 Timothy 1:7
Fear, timidity, and cowardice do not come from God.
God wants His people to walk in courage, wisdom, strength, and boldness.
This does not mean being reckless or careless. There are reasonable precautions people should take in life. But there is a difference between wisdom and cowardice.
Cowardice is when fear stops you from doing what is right, necessary, or part of God’s will for your life.
Jesus Was Not a Coward
Jesus Christ is our example.
He knew the suffering that awaited Him. He knew He would be rejected, beaten, mocked, and crucified. Yet He still obeyed the Father.
Even in the Garden of Gethsemane, He prayed:
“Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not My will, but Yours be done.”
Jesus did not allow fear to stop Him from fulfilling His assignment.
As Christians, we are called to follow Christ. We are called to become spiritually mature and courageous.
How Cowardice Affects People
Cowardice affects many areas of life.
Some people are afraid to pursue opportunities.
Some are afraid to try again after failure.
Some are afraid of rejection.
Some are afraid to speak the truth.
Some are afraid to stand for righteousness.
Some are afraid to obey God publicly because they fear criticism or persecution.
Even some preachers compromise the truth because they are afraid of losing popularity or acceptance.
Instead of boldly standing on the Word of God, they become silent because fear controls them.
But Jesus said:
“Whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father in heaven.”
Fear can cause people to compromise their faith.
Fear Can Keep People Bound
Many people live in unnecessary fear.
Some people are afraid to get married.
Some are afraid to start businesses.
Some are afraid to pursue careers.
Some are afraid to take godly opportunities because they constantly imagine negative outcomes.
But fear often creates imaginary prisons.
The enemy uses cowardice to paralyze people and keep them from progress.
A cowardly mindset can turn someone into a passive spectator in life instead of a victorious overcomer.
Be Bold and Courageous
God wants His people to become spiritually bold.
If God has called you to preach, preach boldly.
If God has called you to serve, serve faithfully.
If God has given you gifts and talents, use them courageously.
Do not let fear stop you from becoming who God created you to be.
We all have a purpose and assignment on this earth. God created every person to contribute positively to the world around them.
But cowardice can prevent people from stepping into their purpose.
Stop Feeding Fear
Fear grows when people constantly feed on negativity.
Stop constantly feeding your mind with fear, discouragement, and hopelessness.
Instead:
Fill your mind with the Word of God.
Pray consistently.
Stay close to the Holy Spirit.
Build your faith.
Focus on truth instead of fear.
The Holy Spirit strengthens believers internally and gives them boldness.
Cowardice Can Lead to Greater Evil
Fear can push people into compromise and sin.
Many people make wrong decisions because they are afraid.
Some deny truth because they fear consequences.
Some join evil systems because they fear suffering.
Cowardice can gradually lead people away from righteousness if they do not resist it.
That is why believers must reject fear and ask God for courage.
Final Encouragement
Today, repent from every form of cowardice.
Ask God to strengthen your inner man.
Ask Him to give you the spirit of boldness, wisdom, courage, and faith.
Do not allow fear to stop you from fulfilling your destiny.
Be courageous.
Be spiritually strong.
Be a warrior for Christ.
Stand for truth.
Walk in faith.
And trust God to lead you through every battle and challenge in life.
Prayer
I pray today that every spirit of fear and cowardice leaves your life in the name of Jesus.
May the Lord strengthen your inner man and fill you with boldness, wisdom, courage, and faith.
May He transform your mind from weakness into strength and victory.
May you become spiritually courageous and fully committed to the will of God.
May fear never separate you from your purpose or destiny.
May the Lord lead you, guide you, protect you, and establish you in victory.
God bless you and have a great day.
