Avoid Toxic Thoughts

Toxic thoughts are negative false thoughts that directly contradict the thoughts of the Holy Spirit.
False thoughts are simply delusions that give birth to destructive actions and emotions. Toxic thoughts also include every form of false doctrine and teaching. Any thought that contradicts the written word of God or voice of the Holy Spirit is a toxic thought. The Bible refers to them as cancer because they are destructive and erode faith.
But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. 17 And their message will spread like cancer. Hymenaeus and Philetus are of this sort, 18 who have strayed concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past; and they overthrow the faith of some. – 2 Timothy 2:16
Thoughts that proceed from the Holy Spirit are life giving thoughts and thoughts that proceed from humans are lifeless thoughts that can never bear good fruits.
Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come. – Romans 5:14
Because the human nature is subject to death, man is incapable of thinking healthy Spirit inspired thoughts by himself. Negative contradictory thoughts is the main way that death expresses itself in man. Every other evil action on earth is as a result of false thoughts.
False thoughts will always lead to fear, sadness, faithlessness, despair, impatience, and disobedience. It is false thoughts that make man hate God, condemn Him and reject Him. False thoughts will always make man doubt God’s goodness because man is looking at his environment and circumstances instead of the word of God.
The Bible commands us to meditate on pure thoughts and heavenly unseen things. We need to take every thought captive and make them obey Christ. We can, because we have our Superman, the Holy Spirit and He is greater than false thoughts. False thoughts come from He who is in the world.
You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. – 1 John 4:4
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. – 2 Corinthians 10:5
Strongholds are false thoughts which man has allowed to dwell in the mind. They keep growing until they become towers of confusion resident and alive in the mind. Every sin and negative fruits of fear and despair start from false thoughts which we receive and swallow. The only way that man can defeat death and toxic thoughts is by clinging to the Holy Spirit’s thoughts – the word of God and the voice of the Holy Spirit.
Whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. – 2 Corinthians 4:4
Jesus came and redeemed us from the dominion of death but we must decide who will rule our minds. It is either life is ruling our thoughts or death is. We must choose. If we let the Holy Spirit control our thoughts, we will not be controlled by death or human nature.
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. – 2 Timothy 1:7
Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. 14 That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. – 2 Timothy 1:13
We must hold fast to the pattern of sound words in the Bible. The thoughts of the Holy Spirit are life-giving healthy thoughts that lead to inner cleansing, purity and sanctification. He is all we need. We must constantly reject toxic thoughts by embracing the word of God and the voice of the Holy Spirit. We must also rebuke those that contradict, and make sure we don’t contradict the thoughts of the Holy Spirit because contradicting the Holy Spirit will only bear fruits of death.
