3 Ways Christians Give the Enemy Access Into Their Lives
Three Things That Can Give the Enemy an Upper Hand Over You
Hello, welcome to another message. Today, I’m going to be talking about three things that can give the enemy an upper hand over you. When you are going through afflictions and the enemy seems to be getting victory over you, you should understand that your spiritual aura is cracked. It means your protection has weakened, your seal is broken, and your armor is incomplete.
The Bible tells us to put on the whole armor of God. When the armor is incomplete, the enemy finds openings. That is why you must constantly remain filled with the Holy Spirit and covered by the presence of God.
Anything unclean that penetrates your inner being and begins to dwell inside you eventually manifests outwardly as affliction, weakness, oppression, or sickness. But when you are filled with the Holy Spirit, the fire of God constantly cleanses you. The blood of Jesus, the presence of Christ, and the fire of the Holy Spirit all point to the manifest presence of God working within you.
When the glory of God fills your spirit man, it purifies you, protects you, and repels darkness. So today, I’m going to talk about three things that can allow the enemy to gain an upper hand over your life.
Not Praying Without Ceasing
The first thing that gives the enemy an upper hand over you is not praying without ceasing.
The Bible says to pray without ceasing, and it also says that the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Prayer attracts the presence of God. Prayer brings down the glory of God. Prayer keeps you connected to the Holy Spirit.
If you are not constantly praying, how will you remain filled with the Holy Spirit? How will you hear the voice of God? How will you stay in God’s perfect will for your life?
The Holy Spirit protects you by guiding you away from error and destruction. Prayer forms a defense around your life. The fire of God surrounds you and repels evil. When that spiritual defense weakens, afflictions begin to penetrate.
There is a way to cultivate constant fellowship with God. Even while carrying out daily responsibilities, your heart can remain in God’s presence. You can train yourself to constantly meditate on Him, worship Him, thank Him, and pray inwardly throughout the day.
When you remain prayerful, the glory of God continues cleansing your spirit man. The Holy Spirit drives out impurity and protects your inner being.
You also need to rejoice continually in your salvation. Celebrate what Christ has done for you. Rejoice in the goodness of God. Confess the Word of God constantly. Speak life over yourself.
Sometimes people pray, but they are not rejoicing in the Lord. They are not celebrating Christ. Their focus is only on problems. But rejoicing in God strengthens your faith and helps you remain spiritually alive.
Persistence in prayer is also important. Even if you are dealing with deep afflictions or ancestral battles, you must persist. Stay in the presence of God until victory comes.
Living Outside God’s Plan for Your Life
The second thing that gives the enemy an upper hand over you is living outside God’s plan for your life.
You cannot walk successfully without the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is our counselor, helper, comforter, and teacher. He is the one who leads us into God’s will.
If you are not listening to the Holy Spirit, you may drift outside God’s purpose for your life without realizing it.
Even if you pray often, living outside God’s will can bring discipline and correction from God. Sin hinders prayer. Disobedience creates barriers between you and the presence of God.
Sometimes people wonder why they are praying but not seeing results. Meanwhile, there is active disobedience in their lives. There may be hidden sin, rebellion, unforgiveness, immorality, pride, or refusal to obey God’s instructions.
God disciplines His children because He loves them. When judgment comes as correction, your prayers may feel blocked until you repent and realign yourself with His will.
That is why it is important to constantly examine your life and ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart. You must remain sensitive to His corrections and instructions.
When you walk in God’s plan for your life, there is protection, peace, and alignment. The enemy cannot easily gain access when you are walking in obedience.
Purpose-Driven Refinement
The third thing that can give the enemy an upper hand over you is purpose-driven refinement, like the thorn in the flesh that Paul experienced.
In Paul’s case, God permitted a messenger of Satan to buffet him so that he would not become proud because of the abundance of revelations given to him.
This was not necessarily because of sin. It was refinement. God was building humility, patience, gentleness, endurance, and dependence on Him.
Sometimes God permits temporary discomforts to shape your character and prepare you for greater glory.
Humility is extremely important to God. Gentleness is important to God. Patience and perseverance are important to God.
Many people change when they receive blessings, influence, or leadership positions. Pride enters their hearts. But God wants His children to remain humble and dependent on Him.
That is why some trials are permitted for refinement.
However, you must never automatically assume that every affliction is a thorn in the flesh. Paul sought the face of God concerning his own situation before receiving understanding.
You also must seek God to understand what is happening in your life. Do not misapply Scripture.
Most afflictions are usually connected to lack of prayer, disobedience, spiritual weakness, or living outside God’s will. The thorn in the flesh situation is possible, but it is not always the case.
That is why you need a personal relationship with God. You must learn to hear His voice and receive His guidance directly.
Conclusion
These are the three things that can give the enemy an upper hand over you:
Not praying without ceasing and failing to remain filled with the Holy Spirit.
Living outside God’s plan for your life through disobedience or active sin.
Purpose-driven refinement where God allows temporary discomfort to build humility, patience, and spiritual maturity.
Do not replace a relationship with God with magical practices, rituals, or dependence on external objects. God wants you to know Him personally. He wants you to hear His voice, walk with Him, and understand His will for your life.
Seek God directly. Let the Holy Spirit teach you. Learn to pray, repent, obey, and remain in fellowship with Him.
Prayer
I pray that God Himself reveals Himself more to you. May the Lord visit you and clothe you with garments of light, humility, righteousness, and holiness.
May the Holy Spirit teach you continually and lead you into all truth. May you walk in the Spirit, be filled with the Spirit, and manifest the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit.
May God strengthen your prayer life and help you remain constantly in His presence. May He guide your decisions and help you walk in His perfect will for your life.
May every affliction and infirmity in your body be neutralized and destroyed by the fire of the Holy Spirit. May the blood of Jesus cleanse you, purify you, and make you whole.
May the Lord surround you with His protection and deliver you from every work of darkness. May He open new doors in your life and grant you good success.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
Have a good day and remain blessed.
