11 Principles For Waiting Upon The Lord
11 Principles For Waiting Upon The Lord
Hello, welcome to another message. Today’s message is titled: “11 Principles for Waiting Upon the Lord.”
If you want the glory and presence of God to be with you, you need to master the art of waiting upon the Lord in prayer. Seeking God’s face means seeking His saving and manifest presence. The Bible says that if we ask, we will receive, and with God nothing is impossible.
Here are some principles we need to apply when seeking God’s face.
Number one: Go into His presence with thanksgiving.
The Bible instructs us to enter God’s presence with thanksgiving. We must be anxious for nothing, but with thanksgiving and joy present our petitions to God. Thanksgiving is a spiritual principle that should never be ignored.
Number two: Have faith.
Get rid of guilt and condemnation and approach God with confidence. Hebrews says:
“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
Forget your past and trust in the blood of Jesus Christ. The Bible says there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. We must come before God with assurance and faith.
Number three: Have expectation.
Believe that God will reward your effort. Believe that He hears your prayers and is able to answer. Avoid double-mindedness and unbelief. Faith means being confident in what God has promised even before you see the result physically.
Number four: Hear from the Holy Spirit.
We cannot truly succeed spiritually without the Holy Spirit. He is our helper, teacher, comforter, and guide. We must allow Him to direct us in prayer and in life.
Every person’s situation is different, so we need the Holy Spirit to teach us how to pray and how to walk with God effectively.
Number five: Spend time in God’s presence.
Spending quality time with God is vital. Throughout scripture, we see believers waiting upon God for long periods in prayer and worship. The more time we spend with God sincerely, the more sensitive we become to His presence and direction.
God desires fellowship with His children.
Number six: Develop consistency in prayer.
Prayer requires discipline and consistency. Throughout the Bible, we see examples of believers praying during difficult hours and remaining steadfast in seeking God.
Paul the Apostle and Silas prayed and worshipped even at midnight, and God moved powerfully.
A strong prayer life deepens spiritual growth and strengthens our relationship with God.
Number seven: Keep away from sin.
We must reject every form of evil. Sin creates obstacles in our spiritual lives and weakens our fellowship with God. God desires purity, obedience, and sincerity from His people.
Number eight: Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal hidden weaknesses and areas that need growth.
Sometimes believers struggle spiritually because there are areas of ignorance, immaturity, or compromise they have not recognized yet. That is why we need humility and continual learning through the Word of God.
The Psalmist said:
“Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”
The more we study scripture and listen to the Holy Spirit, the more wisdom and understanding God gives us.
Number nine: Present your petitions to God.
The Bible says:
“Ask, and it shall be given unto you.”
We should bring our requests before God sincerely, joyfully, and thankfully. God cares about our needs, desires, struggles, and concerns.
Prayer is not only about speaking; it is also about relationship and communion with God.
Number ten: Follow God’s purpose for your life.
Walking outside God’s direction can create frustration and confusion. When we follow God’s will for our lives, there is peace, clarity, and spiritual growth.
Seek God concerning your purpose, your calling, your decisions, and your direction in life.
Number eleven: Read and meditate on the Bible.
Reading the Word of God is essential when waiting upon the Lord. The Word of God strengthens our faith, renews our minds, and draws us closer to Him.
The Word of God is spirit and life. The more you meditate on scripture, the more rooted and spiritually strong you become.
So this is the end of today’s message.
I pray that God gives you the grace, strength, and discipline to seek Him continually. May the Lord draw you closer to Himself and reveal His presence in your life.
May God answer your prayers according to His will.
May He strengthen your faith.
May He guide your steps and fill your heart with peace.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
Remain blessed.
