Too Much Fasting Yet, Ignoring The Word And The Spirit Is Not Biblical.
Hello welcome to another message titled The Word Of God Comes First.
So if you are always fasting but you refuse to read the Bible, refuse to meditate on the word of God, refuse to know the word of God, and refuse to have fellowship with the Holy Spirit, then it is time for you to re-examine what you know.
You can know something, yet what you know may not be in complete conformity with the word of God.
Jesus fasted. Paul fasted. But they were filled with the word of God and led by the Holy Spirit. Jesus Himself is the Word of God, so how can someone ignore the word of God, ignore the Holy Spirit, and still think fasting alone is enough?
Remember that pagans also fast. Idol worshipers fast. Many religions fast. So what differentiates a believer is not fasting alone, but living by the word of God and walking with the Holy Spirit.
If you are always fasting yet you refuse to spend time with the word of God, then the enemy can easily gain an upper hand because the word of God takes precedence over everything else. The world itself was created by the word of God.
If you ignore the word of God, you ignore Jesus. If you ignore the Holy Spirit, you ignore your Helper.
There are people who chase the shadow while neglecting the real thing. Fasting is good, but it is a means to an end. The purpose is deeper fellowship with God, greater obedience, spiritual growth, and alignment with His word.
Jesus spoke the word constantly. Everything that came out of His mouth reflected the scriptures. Paul also spoke by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. They had wisdom, revelation, and spiritual understanding.
Fasting can never replace the word of God because something physical can never replace what is spiritual.
So if all someone knows is “fasting, fasting, fasting” just to get blessings while neglecting the word of God, there is something wrong with that order.
There is a divine order.
Fasting is not wrong, but fasting must never take the place of the word of God or the Holy Spirit. Put the word of God first.
Remember Mary and Martha. Martha was busy serving and trying to honor Jesus, but Mary sat at His feet listening to His words.
Jesus said Mary had chosen the most important thing.
Martha was not doing something evil, but she had not chosen the highest priority at that moment.
In the same way, fasting is good, but the word of God is the most important thing because the word of God is spirit and life.
Those who choose the word of God have chosen the most important thing.
So if you are always fasting while neglecting the word of God, you are focusing on the activity while neglecting the foundation.
The word of God must come first.
Meditate on the scriptures. Study the Bible deeply. Fellowship with the Holy Spirit. Let fasting support your spiritual life, not replace your relationship with God.
May the Lord give you wisdom, understanding, and spiritual hunger for His word in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Have a good day. Remain blessed.
