Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body (Matthew 6:25 NKJV)

“Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? (Matthew 6:27 NKJV)

“Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? (Matthew 6:30 NKJV)

Believe that God will provide for you and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Worry comes from not believing in God but focusing on self.

The same God who created the universe and sustains all things by His power is our father and provider. When we are in need, we must not get depressed and anxious, drowning in worry. We have a high priest who can meet all our needs and He intercedes for us at the right hand of God the father. His name is Jesus and He will surely meet our needs.

Jesus, then, is the High Priest that meets our needs. He is holy; he has no fault or sin in him; he has been set apart from sinners and raised above the heavens. Hebrews 7:26

And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6

Worry is the opposite of action and action is the opposite of worry. Busy, active, enthusiastic people never get bogged down and when they are bogged down with sadness and worry, they quickly get on their feet and get busy to defeat worry and sadness.

When you focus and invest your energy in positive actions like prayer, thanksgiving, praise, worship, petitions, spending time with God, work, exercise, and helping people, you will achieve more and defeat worry. You will put your faith to action and not spend time drowning in worry. There is an opportunity cost for idleness and worry and we must resist the urge to just give in to sadness, worry and idleness. We all get sad but those who recover are those that have learned the secret and life skills necessary for overcoming sadness and worry.

Jesus instructed us not to worry about life and what we will eat or drink and trust God. It is a commandment and it is for our own good. If we can resist idleness and get to work – any work at all that pays something. The pay might not be so great but it is better than being defeated and sad. If we do not lay our hands on any work at all, we will be filled with worry because money will not come from anywhere. God said He will bless the work of our hands not idleness.

May we resist worry and lack of faith and cling to God and trust Him to provide for us even as we get busy with our hands.
