Pursue Holiness And Peace

Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14 NKJV)

We are commanded to pursue peace and holiness. This means we must make it our

aim to constantly love others and promote peace in our daily lives. We are also commanded to pursue holiness because without holiness no one can see the Lord.

God is holy, commands holiness and delights in holiness. Holiness is His very nature, desire and will. Jesus loved righteousness and hated sin and 1 Peter 1:16 says, for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

We should love what God loves and hate what God hates. This means that we must never flirt with sin and we must despise sin with a holy passion. We must flee all appearances of evil.

We must also not forget that God desires faith, and pleasing Him cannot be complete without faith. The Bible commands us to walk in faith by clinging to His word as the final authority on any topic or subject. We must have faith in the love that God has for us and the love that He expressed for us on the cross by dying in our place. From this faith we respond to His love by loving others, complete obedience, walking in His plans for our lives and absolute holiness.

As we do all these, we add prayer, praise, worship, thanksgiving, patience and perseverance. Then the God of peace who sees our love and faith will be with us.

    Nice post

  • And how are you at this? It’s so easy to say we should hate sin and run from each temptation, but it’s a different thing to do it. That’s where I’ve had trouble. I want God so much, but I have certain areas in my life that sin still has a hold on me. I do good for a while, then fail. Or lose my temper, or etc. Key in Romans 7 here.

So how do I make it from here to there. How do I cultivate this holiness that is required to see God. How can I keep my focus and passion high enough to fight until I can overcome?

Thanks a lot for the comment. God is a God of grace and He gives grace as we keep asking and seeking. We all have certain areas of sin in our lives but He is so loving and graceful that He can help us out of our weaknesses without condemning us. He can discipline but not condemn us because he loves us so much. He understands our struggles with sin so much because he resisted sin as the son of man.

We must surrender our areas of struggle with sin over to Him and pray constantly for all grace. When great grace comes upon us, we will loose the desire for sin as we realize that we love Him so much that when we hurt Him it feels like we are hurting ourselves.

The more we love Him as he provides more grace, the more we will not want to grieve Him. He keeps transforming us and taking us from glory to glory.

The victory is in depending on Him for grace and in absolute surrender. The key is in wanting so much to please Him as we forget self. This pleases Him greatly and He steps in to help us in line with our loving desire.

He alone will do it and bear fruit in us. Amen.

      Blessings ❤️🙏😊

    • be steadfast to keeping your mind on Christ! continuallly return to Him, you are a work in progress, He will be faithful. the word that comes to mind is surrender..let go & let God..<3 I relate with your post very much. Ive decided that every morning I will physically and entirely surrender to God..and pray..and worship Jesus..I find that I am much more attentive to what He is leading me to, than being caught up in any sin on the days I do this. Praise Him continually, the word says be clothed in praise and worship! <3

  • I’d love to say I am so good at all these things but nope, I fall short. I prayed that God makes me the person He wants me to be and thank Him everyday for helping me get there. This is a great post Laura. Thank you for sharing it with us. God Bless you always :):):)

Thanks for your wise comment. We all fall short but we keep striving and preaching maturity even as we look up to Jesus – the author and finisher of our faith. He will take us to the mountain of all grace as we keep seeking to please Him. Thanks once more for the words of wisdom and encouragement. Blessings 💕🙏😊
