City On A Hill

City on a hill

Beautiful and splendid

I can still remember

The days of old

When I sang on the rolling hills

In your territory

With no care

City on a hill

What happened?

I saw you yesterday

Dejected and abused

Neglected and ugly

Defeated

City on the hill

You were the pride of nations

Abounding in natural resources

Overflowing with human capital

You were wealthy

You were rich

What happened, pride of the nations

Who cast you down

To the grave

Today,  you are

The scorn of nations

City on a hill

Rise! Rise!

It is time to shine

Reclaim your glory

And stand proud and tall

The  Lord says,

“You must rise,

Precious daughter of Zion.”
